Nice pick Hanna. Definitely a top 5 album for me, without thinking about it much. Could be #1. Every song is great. Great Gig in the Sky is freaking fantastic. Durga McBroom is amazing.

That was my original plan, but since I was unsure on some other picks I figured I'd get them now. Just been loving them latley

I can very much understand that point, and I kinda used to feel the same way. What got me hooked onto Coldplay though was the ability for their songs to be used in so many different moments of life. If you know where I'm going with that. If not I can expand.

Good choice! but it seems to me once the girls joined the band, their music went completely down hill, and had no feeling.the blues were gone for good

As MonsieurFishs's 5th round pick, I am proud to select, one of the greatest bands of all time, in the UK category:

IRON MAIDENNNNNNNN

Quote:
Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band from Leyton in the East End of London. The band were formed in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris, formerly a member of Gypsy's Kiss and Smiler. Iron Maiden is one of the most successful and influential bands in the heavy metal genre, having sold over 80 million albums worldwide[1][2][3] without significant mainstream or radio support. The band won the Ivor Novello Awards for international achievement in 2002,[4] and were also inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk in Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles County, California during their tour in the United States in 2005. Iron Maiden are influenced by Thin Lizzy, UFO, Wishbone Ash and Deep Purple amongst others.
Quote:
Iron Maiden were ranked #24 in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock",[37] and in Kerrang! magazine were ranked as the most important band of the last 25 years.[citation needed] The band were ranked fourth on MTV's "Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All Time".[38] Iron Maiden were named the third best metal band of all time on VH1 Classic: Top 20 Metal Bands.[39] The band also won the Ivor Novello Award for international achievement in 2002.[40] The band was also inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk during their tour in the United States in 2005.
Iron Maiden's mascot, Eddie, is a perennial fixture in the band's sci-fi and horror-influenced album cover art, as well as in live shows. Eddie was drawn by Derek Riggs until 1992, although there have been various incarnations by numerous artists including Melvyn Grant. Eddie is also featured in a first-person shooter video game from the band, Ed Hunter, as well as numerous books, graphic comics and band-related merchandise.

Nice pick Fish... Another one I had on my shortlist but didn't expect to drop much further. Powerslave is one of my fav albums... Not to mention the best-named album around.

Neon Dion And The Iggy Pops select Tori Amos in the Female Vocalist Category.

Tori Amos (born Myra Ellen Amos on August 22, 1963) is an American pianist and singer-songwriter. She is married to English sound engineer Mark Hawley, with whom she has one child, Natashya "Tash" Lórien Hawley, born on September 5, 2000.
Amos was at the forefront of a number of female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s and was noteworthy early in her career as one of the few alternative rock performers to use a piano as her primary instrument. She is known for emotionally intense songs that cover a wide range of subjects including sexuality, religion and personal tragedy. Some of her charting singles include "Crucify", "Silent All These Years", "Cornflake Girl", "Caught a Lite Sneeze", "Professional Widow", "Spark", and "A Sorta Fairytale".
Amos had sold 12+ million records worldwide as of 2005[1] and has also enjoyed a large cult following. Having a history of making eccentric and at times ribald comments during concerts and interviews, she has earned a reputation for being highly idiosyncratic. As a social commentator and sometimes activist, some of the topics she has been most vocal about include feminism, religion, and sexuality.

Since Tori was supposed to be mine, oh man...I think I'm going to cry.

I will post a few of my favorite Tori videos to further reflect her absolute brilliance. Dissentower, I commend you for your pick but I still hate you.

Doughnut Song

"You told me last night
You were a sun now with your very own
Devoted satellite
Happy for you
And I am sure that I hate you
Two suns too many too many able fires" brilliant

Yes, Anastasia (studio version)

and a newer song, Sweet The Sting
This song makes me want to do nasty things to her! (nothing to do with the video).

and just for fun, Tori covers SLAYER!

I totally agree and I catch her live in Toronto every time she comes around. She touches the soul quite literally. Great videos you posted too, so many good songs!

Have you ever checked out her original band Y Kant Tori Read? Hard to find but it is actually pretty good if you can handle the synth sound of it.

I've never looked for it, but it is probably something I will track down eventually. I have to get to a show someday.
