to be used primarily on nuclear weapons work, including simulating nuclear explosions.
Why am I not suprised?

But officials said the computer also could have a wide range of other applications in civilian engineering, medicine and science, from developing biofuels and designing more fuel-efficient cars to finding drug therapies and providing services to the financial industry.

I think the Alberta government should use the $11.6b dollar surplus and buy me one of these.

Or just buy them and give them to the all the Universities in Canada.

To put the computer's speed in perspective, if every one of the 6 billion people on Earth used a hand-held computer and worked 24 hours a day, it would take them 46 years to do what the Roadrunner computer can do in a single day.
I my math right? Does that make it 97 Billion times faster than a hand-held computer? That's insane

6 billion people working 365 days a year for 46 years to the equivalent of one day's work.

To me, that seems to make it 604,440 billion times faster. Whatever that computes to in scientific notation. 6.044 * 10 ^ 14 or something?

It's fast.
