1/4 should go to buying federal debt - keep Canadian debt in Canada.
1/4 should go to buying provincial debt - keep debt in Canada
1/4 should be invest into Heritage fund with a direction of Capital Investment return in Alberta
1/4 should go to Infrastructure projects (1/2 of which should go to Edmonton and Calgary split equally)

EDIT - also no ED Bucks - waste - if such an idea is to occur, make it available onlto to those who filed income tax last year in the Province of Alberta

How about using it for long-term planning? You know, things like the high speed rail, LRT expansion in BOTH major cities in this province, etc. Things that will help soften the blow in future years. Can you possibly see gas going below $1/litre anymore? Not likely. We need transportation options everyone can afford.

On the funding of the arts, take that a step further, and fund all sorts of community projects. How much would it cost to build a twin hockey arena in each quadrant of Edmonton and Calgary, and endow it with enough money to operate for x amount of time? Imagine what eight new sheets of ice in each city would accomplish to help get and keep people, especially kids, ACTIVE?

How about platinum-tipped seal clubs? Arm each Albertan with one, in case they see a seal on the street somewhere; you never know when one might appear. Is it likely you will see one? Not really. Is it impossible, however? Absolutely not. It is important to be prepared for the worst at all times.

That stupid heritage fund is the same fund that pays for your childrens scholarships every year. It is also the same fund, that if treated properly, will provide more revenue per year than oil and gas revenues. The more ALberta puts into that "stupid fund" now, the more it will pay in the end. After the resoureces are gone that stupid fund will be able to keep all of us stupid albertans prosperous long after the oil is gone. Sorry for the stupid rebuttal.

How about the arts subsidize the arts instead of the govt. How many of these artists "give back" once they strike it rich. I feel if you want to do paintings, or sit on a street corner and make music, that is a choice you make and you get paid accordingly. I despise the thought of 12 hour waiting times in ER rooms......but we are subsidizing artists. No thank you
