This depends where you are playing. At U of C you need to bring a helmet (they allowed half visors last time I played but only our team had them I think) You are allowed wooden sticks (must have plastic bottom, those canadian tire sticks are amazing, they have "fiberglass" or whatever on the bottom)
At Mount Royal everything is provided (sticks - plastic, have to use theirs, helmets, all goalie equipment, and pinies)
Gloves are optional.
I have never seen anyone other then a goalie wear a cup.
I have seen lots of people wear shin guards (soccer ones).
Hope that helps.

I was considering playing ball hockey with CSSC on a singles team in the fall anyway. I'd be in as well. Total noob though, so (b).

I would be interested for sure. As a defencemen I would rank myself as good(g) but as a forward probably intermediate(i)

I'm in depending on price. I'd like to play net (b), but I'd classify myself as an (i) out of the pipes.

to the best of my knowledge half visors were only allowed at the UofC for summer league and you had to have a mouth gaurd.
I have friends that play at the UofC every year, and they wanted me to join part time for fall/winter, but i dont have a full cage/shield so I wasnt allowed to join
Sticks were always a point of contention during summer league, there were some guys playing with 1 piece composites and were allowed to continue using them despite protest. The "Eric Lindros" canadian tire street hockey special (wood stick but the blade is covered in plastic) are great for indoor hockey leagues

I have been playing with Calgary Sport and Social Club for years, it's pretty good fun... but you need to have 2 girls on the floor at all times, this team is shaping up like a sausage fest.

I would love to get on board although I'm afraid I'd just be bringing more sausage to the table. My participation will be highly dependent on the day/night and location. I am also a beginner. I played a lot of floor hockey in junior high but nothing better than that.

So REDVAN wants to start a ball hockey team. So like softball someone else is going to have to step up and organize this!

I'm interested but it will come down to time and place for me. (I/G) I'm in between some games I can provide a Iginla type game but sometimes I have the invisible Amonte hands

I used to play back in the day, and I never wore a cup either - until I got pegged good by a shot to the ol' berries that hurt about as much as anything I've ever experienced. There are guys that can let a slapshot go that will have both extreme velocity and a wicked curve, and unless you are Igor, the Man with Balls of Steel, I'd suggest wearing the cup.

Man, what a great place Calgarypuck is. I wonder if other messege boards have softball teams, ice hockey teams, ball hockey teams , book clubs etc, with many many members getting involved?

Low blow, I was pretty busy with school at that time. Plus, FireFly did a good job for my team. Who are you anyway? Are you someone I know poking fun, or someone I don't know runniing their mouth?
I would really like to play anywhere, so I have no preference to where or when.
Same problem as the start of slo-pitch, we need some ladies if we are going to play a rec league, which we should since a lot of us are beginners! Don't be shy, only Locke is a creepy guy- everyone else is cool.
