Ronaldo scores, 2-1 Portugal.

Well, this is a team run by a guy who ran Ranieri, Mourinho and Grant out of town for either not playing sexy enough football, or not winning the CL. I think Scolari and Abramovich are a match made in heaven.
Sucks not being able to watch all these games... I should go on "vacation" and watch them all.

Meira for Moutinho... sounds like Scolari is happy with 2-1 and playing more defensive.

I'm watching them at work, I'm fortunate to have a flexible schedule for June, but I took the necessary measures to ensure it months ago. I was supposed to be over there so the least my work can do is let me watch the games.
The Czechs taking a page out of the Portuguese playbook diving all over the place hoping for some magic from a free kick.

I have a marginally flexible schedule... I'm able to take friday to watch Group C, and I'm trying to see if I can take the 17th off for the final Group C games... but I'd really like to see some of the teams that I'm not cheering for. Particularly, Spain, Portugal and Germany. Since they, the Dutch, and the Italians if they get their crap in order are the most complete teams at the tournament.

The Czechs have no one that can step up in the middle to fill the void of Rosicky and Nedved.
Dissapointing end, they had some chances, but without controlling the midfield they really have no flow.

Pretty much, as I had said earlier in the thread the Czech midfield stopped doing their jobs and then the Portuguese just started to run right over them.
Without the midfield helping the defense this game went south in a hurry, add to that a big defensive mistake and the Portuguese put this game on ice.
Now come on Switzerland, devour Turkey like tasty Falafel!!

I caught a tiny bit of the Swiss-Turkey first half at the restaurant.
The'yre playing in an absolute monsoon! The ball actually stopped in a puddle before Yakin kicked it in
If there's a replay tonight you guys have to catch it just to see players watersliding around.

Blast! The Swiss get a 3 on 1 that turns into a 4 on 2 and can only manage a shot on goal.
Come on you Swiss!

You clearly dont appreciate the difficulty in executing a proper "Swiss Cheese" defensive structure and winning at the same time.
That said, come on Switzerland, they're playing like men possessed right now

Bah, Der Swiss should have had a better result but couldn't finish. They really should have scored on that 3-1.

Are they insane? The EPL cannot handle Big Phil. The man is crazy. His definition of ethical behaviour is wiring his players to give them in game instructions and trying to break the other team's legs.
Just look up some of his antics when he coached in Brazil. The man is batschit insane.

It's a done deal.

COIN FLIP!
--
Actually I just looked it up.
Tie breaking rules :
(a) Greater number of points obtained in the matches between the teams in question.
(b) Goal difference resulting from the matches between the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal).
(c) Greater number of goals scored in the matches between the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal).
(d) Goal difference in all the group matches.
(e) Greater number of goals scored in all the group matches.
(f) Coefficient of points from the last two qualifying competitions for the final rounds of the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008 (points gained and divided by the number of matches played).
Czech Rep is 4th and Turkey 13th, so the Czechs would go through.

Attention all Ronaldo haters!!!!
1 goal, set up 2 more, man of the match!!!!
All this with the Czechs closing in on him with 2, sometimes 3 players for the whole game.

He was also responsible for the goal the Czechs scored against Portugal. Standing in the box not covering a man or taking away any space.

Weird, considering it was Petit and Moutinho who blew the coverage. Watch the goal again, Ronaldo wasn't near the ball. The Czech who scored the goal wiggled away from Petit, not Ronaldo.

Thats quite right, but if Ronaldo had been where he was supposed to be he'd have been doing his job and they wouldnt have scored.
Regardless of this demi-god's limitless skillz he still has to play defence once in a while. His job was to cover space between the attacker and the goal. Instead he moved over to the left leaving the front of his goal wide open, and where was he when Moutinho was beaten?
Nowhere to be found.
