Yeah baby! 2-0!! Zlatan's first goal to make it 1-0 was his first since 2005.

Wonderful garbage goal.

It took 4 years but finally the Greeks are paying for their negative play.

Looked like a hockey goal - off the guys knee, the defenders foot, and then thru the keepers 5 hole, just inside the post, just over the line.

Wow.

Wow.
The announcer once again comes through with some hilarity.

"That was horrible!! But it counts!!"

I am looking forward to more of this announcer in the future.

Zlatan's the man. I'll always remember his back heel vs. Italy in '04.

He's been around forever. He works for FIFA and is hired to do all sort of tournaments. He did some matches last year in Canada for the U-20s

That was pretty creepy. Where was that filmed, the projects of Stockholm?

That kid has some serious hero worship issues.

Sure.

Anyways, he did score one helluva goal to punish the Greeks.

That was also his first goal for Sweden since Euro 2004. He had to break the goose egg eventually. Honestly, I never said he lacked talent, I said he lacks the ability to play when it counts in a big match. This was not a big match, they could have still lost and been very much alive in this group.

Lets see him do it against a team like Spain, or in the knockout rounds, rather than a team like Greece in the first game.

I am not sure where to begin here. First of all, he scored in october 2005, then he boycotted the national team for one year, so yeah...

Then this was a big match. It's the freaking euro 2008, every game is big. Oh and Greece was the euro champs afterall.

It was a pretty big match. The Greeks had the best qualifying record in the tournament and only allowed 1 goal in the entire Euro 2004 tournament.

Besides, when you're playing at the Euros, even the group stage games are big games.

1 goal against the stingy Greek defence is pretty good. The whole Portuguese team only managed 1 goal against the Greeks in 2 games last time around.

Sorry, first tournament goal since Euro 2004. During which competition, he missed a critical penalty, then he was non-existent during WC 2006, and he was only out for 7 months (mostly cause he pouted over being suspended for breaking team rules) , between September 06 and March 07.

Every match is important, but this match did not determine whether they go home or not... he's not a clutch player, at least, not yet. Maybe he'll become one this tournament.

Look, I just don't think the guy is a winner... he has a terrible attitude, is often prone to inconsistency, and in the past is a choke, especially for Sweden (who I do hope does well).

I only casually follow Sweden, but I like watching them, I had to admit I was surprised when Johan Elmander and Marcus Allback werent featured.

Elmander eventually got subbed in, but these guys were money for Sweden. Despite the injury to Wilhelmsson, Sweden still has some tricks up their sleeve.

I was a little surprised with Mellberg... but not in the way I'd like. I hope he just had a rough day at the office. Maybe he's just not a CB and got used to being a RB at Aston Villa.

Elmander is money, this tournament could be huge for his future. A good showing means a possible move from Toulouse to a major club.

Mellberg? You must be referring to Henrik Zetterberg's evil defensman twin.

Yeah, we was not having a great day, he was looking a little scrambly in front of the net and his defensive coverage was a little spotty.

I have a feeling that the general message to Sweden before the game was:

"Everybody push up and attack and for the love of God dont let the Greeks score."

Because Mellberg was up in the attack very frequently especially on set pieces. I gotta give huge props to Hansson, that guy only made 1 or 2 defensive errors and was an absolute stone wall all game on the defense.

Elmander is really good, but LArsson and Ibrahimovic are world class strikers, so Elmander is the 3rd man, but he will see play time.

As for wilhelmsson, he is out of the tournament with injury, so sad as he is flashy and offensive.

He actually reminds me of huselius
