Not that bad either. They had a good start, hit the post which would have made it 1-1. The goal they conceded at the end of the 1st half really deflated them.
They could give the Swedes and Greeks some problems.

Still yet to be a game where both teams score a goal in the same game.

You're right, they're nowhere the same in soccer as they are in hockey... but they are definitely emerging, as evidenced by Zenit St. Petersburg's UEFA cup win with a largely Russian team. UEFA qualifying is far more brutal than in any other conference, to make it to EURO in and of itself is an accomplishment.

russia aka Soviet Union was actually very good during the 80s and in the begining of the 90s. They're been going backwards for a while, but maybe they're get better again. Certainly not in this match though.

Yeah... they weren't bad as the Soviet Union... I think much of why they got worse was the loss of players to the new states, Ukraine most prominently. Maybe re-emerging is a better way to put it?

YAY! A russian goal
---
I was initially complaining about the ref but he's had a good game.
And another game without diving! That's like 4 in a row now

Wow Fabregas scores now. Typical Cesc, can't even score without diving
All joking aside, great game to watch, Torres and David Villa looked unstoppable.

You forgot to mention how it was the easiest goal at the end of a decided game...

The announcer is hilarious whenever the Greek back 4 get the ball the whole stadium starts to boo and the announcer starts complaining and then predicting the passes.
Its pretty funny, but God I hope the Swedes score first, because if the Greeks get one this game will go south in a hurry.
The announcer was also having a good laugh when Ibrahimavic took one in the Thoresons...

The announcer is great. He was chuckling when Zlatan got kicked in the nads.
What I don't understand is the Swedes just stand there and watch the Greeks pass around? Might want to forcheck or something.

what have you watched a lot of soccer? There is no way to steal a ball when 4 greeks pass around on their own half. There is no such word as forcheck.
Greece plays for a 0-0 tie, such a boring game.

Silly. Not to steal the ball, just to apply a bit of pressure. Make them change their passes.
