Had a great time, even with fighting off the animals on the floor for most of the show. Great setlist, brought me right back to my childhood when I first bought Somewhere in Time and spent hours listening and looking at the cassette cover. Those 'ol limeys delivered and the show actually got better 3/4 of the way through.

Can someone fill me in: Is it true Bruce flies their touring jet? I know he is a licensed airline pilot, but my god, most pilots don't rock 20,000 people every 1 or 2 nights.

They sure pulled it together, during the Blaze Baily years they had to leave the Eddie puppets at home because they wouldn't fit in the clubs they were playing.

He definately has more energy than me, and I'm 26. Put me on stage as the lead singer of a band, and after running around on stage like he did I'd be done for the night after the first song. Hell, alot of bands I've seen that are in their early 20s don't even have near the energy that Bruce does.

Bruce has to have the most energy of any lead singer around today. Maybe old Mick Jagger could give him a run for his money...just got back form the Edmonton show, great time!

They put on a hell of a show in Edmonton on Friday night.
The cliches and the Spinal Tap-ness of the whole thing would have been pretty lame if they didn't invent all that stuff 30 years ago.
The fair city of Calgary got a lot of abuse and it was pretty funny seeing the rubes eat it up.
Bruce: "That town of Calgary down the road sold out faster than Edmonton!! What do you think of that Edmonton!"
"BOOOOOOO"
"But Edmonton came was the second fastest city to sell out!"
"Yaaaaay!"
"In Calgary they were very loud indeed! Can Edmonton be louder? Can you be louder Edmonton!"
"Yaaaaaaaaay"
"I said Can You Be Louder Edmonton?"
"Yaaaaaaaaaaay"
"I can't hear you Edmonton! Can you be LOUDER EDMONTON?"
"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY"
"You are louder Edmonton!! You are louder!"
They played all the good songs and hammed it up as much as possible. The Eddie puppets were oddly cool and hilarious at the same time. They played a couple songs that have been written in the last 10 years and the kids there just ate them up. I'd never even heard them before. One song called "Fear of the Dark" seemed to be the favorite of the night and got more response than "Run to the Hills"
I thought it would be mostly weathered old bangers but it was not -- guys between the age of 15 and 25 made up the bulk of the crowd. There were a lot of bad tattoos (one guy had "Schytt Happens" in script across his shoulders) and bald muscleheads looking for fights but it was a surprisingly calm affair. I was on the floor, standing dead centre maybe 60 feet from the stage and received just one elbow and encountered the sweat of only one other human being.
It was a great concert and worth a lot more than 80 bucks.

There was one good tussle before Maiden even took the stage, LOL. Morons. Negative 80 dollars in the bank account, and all you get to see is Steve Harris' daughter.

Yeah cause we would have never reacted the same way at the Dome if the situation was reversed.

Oh no doubt. The Calgary rubes would have done the same thing but in enemy territory it was even funnier. I'm sure he said the same thing in Calgary the night before and got the same reaction.

Bands seem to do that all the time when playing both Calgary and Edmonton.
Lead singer - "So we're playing Edmonton tomorrow night"
Crowd - "BOOOOOOOOOOO"

Fear of the Dark - good tune that always gets people going. Sure it might not be quite as old as Number of the Beast era stuff, but its been out for 16 years...

It was the only song they played that wasn't from the 1980-89 era I believe. I am really glad they played it. I get goose bumps when I hear the crowd as loud as it was singing along.
Highlights of the night for me:
Fear of the Dark
Run to the Hill
The Trooper
Giant Eddie Marionette
Happy Birthday
Awesome show.
I was so pumped when I found out I was going. I was out of town on a training seminar when the tickets went on sale. When I logged onto ticketmaster when I got home it was sold out. I was bummed out for the rest of the week but when I got back home I got a call from my little brother asking me what I was doing on June 5th. I said I had no plans and he told me that he had bought tickets for me and the g/f. What an awesome brother.
