While I understand the problem, I would love to have some bats live outside my place. They'll eat mosquitoes like it's going out of style. My folks have actually gone so far as to make bat houses in an effort to attract them.
Your predicament sucks though (with the feces and such). I can't imagine that a few broom swats won't get him to vacate. Then again I've never had to get rid of one.

He'll probably move along on his own. They usually don't stick around for long.
I like bats, and not just because they eat mosquitoes (600 or more per hour according to one source I found). I think the fact that they're a flying mammal that's pretty much blind and navigates by sonar is kind of cool. And ya, I have bat houses in my backyard.

Mothballs, or spray the corner with human urine.

Yah, it's a flying Mr. Magoo. I wouldn't mind sharing space with a bat provided it wasn't being a nuisance. If he was in the backyard or some corner of the house mostly out of sight that would be fine. It's literally two feet from our front door and making a (for now) small brownish mess.

Dude, I was so bloody confused. I read your post and my subconscious saw the next reply as Calgary Vipers (who traded a player for a few bats) so my brain imagined you found a baseball bat on your porch with some poop on it and you couldn't get rid of it. I had no idea why you were using a broom on a baseball bat and then washing it with water and ammonia.

If you really want to get rid of it I would continue with the harrashment technique (hosing etc). Is the Bat on the porch or is he nesting inside a void on the porch. If he is just resting he/she will move along shortly. The only time you will have a permanent resident is once they build a nest to rear their young. That being said if he decides to stay the summer he will fly off in October to over winter in the big bat cave outside Bragg Creek.
He should be gone shortly, give it a week and continue to hose him down.
