I have a question similar to the point you brought up FlamesAddicion.

I was watching a program about UFO crash landings and how the Roswell wreckage was supposedly brought to Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio.

The program listed 10 or 15 other crashes that were supposedly brought there as well.

I thought to myself "These aliens can travel thousands of light years but they can not fly their saucers in our atmosphere?"

How often do planes crash? It's not that often, and we have thousands of them flying around. Now we introduce an advanced race with advanced technology, and far less crafts flying around (i'm assuming), and all of a sudden we have numerous crashes over the years. Statistically speaking, off the top of my head it doesn’t make sense. I didn’t do the math though.

Weather balloons crash all the time.

But their not manned. I'm saying, if there are aliens, they seem to be pretty crappy at driving since they keep crashing.

I think he's saying that the other 10-15 crashes were just weather balloons.

I see you're point about the crashes. If they were all in fact alien crafts, it would indicate that for a technologically advanced race, they are also a bunch of clumsy fools.

"Astronaut Edgar Mitchell: UFOs are Real"

Interesting that a national hero has the balls to make this statement.

I have a hard time believing that we are alone in the universe. Everything in me say that the very notion is ludicrous. But I also have a hard time believing that aliens invented the technology to get all the way here and then crashed. It's sort of like inventing a car and then driving it to Mexico and then (fatally) crashing it while trying to parallel park between two horses.

Youtube can be your friend, there are hundreds of low quality vids that show so-called UFO's. But even the best camcorders can't record objects with enough clarity from large distances to convince me. but I have to admit there are a few that boggle my mind.

Thats one way to look at it but on the flipside Kevin Harvick is considered one of the best car racing drivers on the planet but he's had 3 accidents outside of racing in the last 2 years.

Hey, Edgar Mitchell, the dude who walked on the moon, says that UFO sighting have been increasing, and have always been around.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...astronaut.html
I subscribe to the theory that little green dudes have to exist. It's a mathematic certainty.

Edit: Didn't see T&T's post above, but at least my story link is different

Larry King (bless his un-skeptical soul) regularly has UFO topics:

UFOs interfering with nuclear missiles:

I don't doubt, given the size of the universe, that life exists elsewhere--somewhere. It seems virtually a mathematical certainty that given the vastness of the universe, the infinitesimally rare conditions that support life must exist in a few other places; it seems far less likely that Earth is somehow unique.

But that same math dictates that we are very unlikely to ever see a UFO or meet an extra-terrestrial. Aliens would face the same logistical challenges to coming here as we would to going there--that the distances to be traveled are so amazingly vast that they constitute a virtually unbreakable barrier to long-distance space travel.

So--I can imagine extraterrestrial life somewhere else in the Universe. Intelligent extraterrestrial life I'm less sure of, but I could at least imagine it. Intelligent extraterrestrials coming here and taking mini-tours of earth and posing for grainy photographs? Highly unlikely.

It scares me that the only aliens that we've been exposed to are drunk driving, anal probing maniacs who carve up our cows without permission and litter our planet with grafitti (crop circles).

All hail our alien overlords from the planet ARkansas

I stopped watching after ALL 4 OF THE INTERVIEWEES were named Bob.

I can't believe that... How can I believe they know something about UFOs?

Here is what I thought was a good response to this.

Apollo astronauts were heroes. That is very clear to me and should be to everyone; they took an incredible risk to explore and further the knowledge of mankind.
However, that does not give them a "get out of reality free" card.
...
Thing is, his feelings on this have been pretty clear for a while now.

...
Show me anything other than blurry pictures and videos, eyewitness testimony, and black-out government documents. I want evidence.

While everything you say makes sense to me and most humans you also have to consider if you told a person a mere hundred years ago that we could fly airplanes 2000 miles in an hour and stand a man on the moon nobody would believe that either, i still remember an old girlfriends dad who refused to believe we actually landed on the moon...said it was a hoax and was faked..he went to his grave believing that!

The same math that makes it probable that life exists elsewhere also would say life similar to humans with large brains started much earlier than we did.
A thousand years is like a nano-second in space time and I can't even imagine what we will be capable of in a 1000 years.

There is also a large group of people in the UFO world who believe UFO's are actually us time traveling to the past.

I'm one of those people who need to see it with my own eyes before I truly believe it but I do admit there is some strange things happening that don't make sense.
