Let's cut out the middle-man. No networking, no books, just drinking.

That right there is cutting to the heart of the issue.

I found this link which might be helpful to a good discussion of the book: http://us.penguingroup.com/static/rguides/us/libra.html

Hey, bumping the old thread.
Is anyone still doing this? Anyone interested in seeing where this goes? I know I didn't read the first book, but I might have some more time these days. Who is interested?

My fault on this: I was supposed to organize the second meeting, and just way too much stuff came up. I'm still interested in participating as long as I don't need to do any organizational responsibilities.

Well, I don't have a problem with organizing, but I'm not wasting my time if we are going to have a showing of 3 people again. It was definitely QUALITY people, but still...
So I guess a show of hands is in order: IF we have another meeting, how many people would be interested? And by interested, I mean, will buy the book well in advance of the day before the scheduled meeting, will read the book in the three or four weeks allotted, will almost surely show up unless something catastrophic happens; and will vote on the book they want to read and then accept the consensus choice. If the level of interest is "well if I'm not too busy I might show up"...

I could be... what kind of books would be on the list? Are we talking fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, fantasy, historial, Harlequin romance... what?
If it's the last choice... I'm uh... busy that day.

He's a different boy. Had a tough upbringing, lacking a father figure. Mother was a bit strange. They moved alot. He likes subways and the zoo. And guns.
Pretty sure it's going to turn out happy.

I am interested. That's why I resurrected the thread. I was too busy back when I first brought this up, but now I am good. Should have plenty of time to read a book over a few weeks. Let's get this show on the road.
