It's not that I don't like Coldplay just because they suck, it's because their music is so boring. And I think Buckcherry and Coldplay are on similar levels of musical talent. They are one hit (maybe two hit) wonders that popular radio likes to play.

I would say they are up to at least 5-6 hits. I don't think you can compare Coldplay with Buckcherry. Very different bands. One we will look back on in 10 years and want to listen to again and the other we will never hear again after the next year or two. I am not the biggest Coldplay fan in the world as the music does seem kinda somber at times but if you are in the right mood Coldplay are good at what they do! Buckcherry is clearly a one hit wonder IMO.

Who the heck is Buck Cherry, and what do they have to do with Coldplay?
Seriously, people. Like the band, don't like the band. At least try to make sense.

ummmmmmmm . . . I won't argue against your opinion of them, but I will argue on the one or two hit wonder thing. Coldplay has been one of the bigger bands in the world for the past 8 years. Not many bands can sustain that kind of attention for that long.

Personally I just don't see the appeal. Ever since Yellow, Coldplay has always sounded like suicide music to me.
To each his own I guess though.

Not a fan, but "simplicity" is not necessarily a bad thing. Too many bands add complexity for complexity's sake, and it doesn't work. Radiohead is an example of this imo. Don't get me wrong, they are a good band, but to me the complexity borders on pretentious. Not all the time, but some of the time.
I think often a mark of talent is to be able to use simplicity and still be unique. I look at a band like Nirvana. Their songs were very simple yet they were vastly popular in both the top 40 and "alternative" circles.

I actually think that's a pretty inaccurate reading of Radiohead. With the exception of Kid A/Amnesiac most of their songs are pretty straightforward (and even a lot of those two records are pretty straight-up). True the instrumentation and arrangement might be complicated, but they only enhance what are fundamentally 'songs'. It's this very reason why Thom Yorke is renowned as a songwriter and why so many people have covered Radiohead in a multiple of genres - their songs, like all classic songs, are largely simple and are thus able to be re-interpreted a number of ways.
I saw Coldplay on their Rush of Blood tour, a few years back. They put on a good show... you'll have a good time if you go.

Coldplay isn't bad in themselves, they sound like a pretty decent Brit-rock band. I just don't know how I could ever justify that 90 dollar plus ticket price to go see them at a venue like the Saddledome. There are a lot of better live music options out there.
But whatever... I totally understand fans of the band being excited to go see them.

I certainly wouldn't turn down a ticket to see them as they are one of my favorite bands, but I agree with you completely that they aren't a good bad to see live personally. Their music doesn't have the stadium rock feel to it or lend itself to much showmanship I think. Besides that, I refuse to see anyone who's too politically involved as I think anyone should keep their yaps shut about politics when they don't know what goes the hell on behind the scenes. Martin's MTF (make trade fair) stand bugs me to no end.

It's all about what you like, I guess. I'm spending over $700 to go see one of my favourite artists down in Atlanta, Georgia, so I really can't rib fans of a particular band.
