Its quite interesting to see how other GM's value these guys. If Stafford wasn't around then I was taking Byfuglien almost certainly. I think that he had a great season and his versatility is a huge bonus. Upshall was another guy that I definitely would've taken that high.

my list fell off sharply after about 10 guys. at our pick there were still some names out there that probably could have slotted in to our 4th line/3rd pair for this year, but in the end we decided best keep our cap flex going into the offseason. There are actually several serviceable D still available, but we have alot of that. so we went with Kreps, a U23 forward who actually showed well for FLA this year and has re-signed for 2 NHL seasons

Well 15 more picks and than I would get a second chance....I'll have to see if threre are 15 guys left that I recognize. I think I might end up making a second round selection yet.

That was a tough choice between Quincey and Cuminsky but I like Quincey's size and all round ability. Said to have gained quite a mean streak this past season and to have a legitimate shot at making the Wings team next year. However, playing for the Wings is more of a knock on him as he's going to have to play great hockey earn a place with their depth. Hopefully he gets traded somewhere where he can be used properly!

Yeah, Jonathan Ericsson seems to have an inside track on the next Wings opening...plus I think Brad Stuart will stay with Detroit just because karma wants CP mods to deal with about 100 different Brad Stuart hates the Flames but loves the Wings...OMG Sutter destroys the Flames again threads.

I definitely looked closely at both Quincey and Cumiskey, but did the worst thing a CPHL gm can do, and picked for organizational need, which will likely change tomorrow

LOL to Syl's board reaction!

Yeah, Quincey is in tough but Cumiskey is in almost the same boat in Colorado being behind a couple Dmen on the prospect charts and he lacks the size too, so went with Quincey. Was also tempted by Kreps and Hennessy until both were taken right in front of me, lol. Goaltender Daniel Larsson was also a serious candidate, but he's also behind someone on Detroit's prospect depth chart. Tough choices for the next few picks I think.

also also also...geez, just re-read that and there may be evidence of overuse of a word in there. lol

We are getting to the point where its going to be trickier to uncover gems - so for the benefit of those that haven't picked let's try to keep names (at least those not yet selected) out of this discussion going forward.

Is it too late to make this a snake draft? I know the worse teams drafted first but they're going to get one NHL player plus one minor league player while we get one minor league player?...

Not sure if a Snake draft would do much, as most teams i think will pass in the 2nd round...Although it would be nice to get two minor leaguers.

I have no problems with the snake draft, or leaving it the way it is now, there are only a few more names that I am interested in as it is.

Well bad teams do generally need more help.....Realistically I have about 20 more players total between the two teams left that I'd bother to find a roster spot for on my team. And I currently have the worst CPHL team by a country mile....So after the first round we'll get mid way through the next round and I think teams will start passing on guys. I think theres enough guys left that all 30 teams will get an NHL player or guy with NHL potential of some type. Granted I wouldn't trade the player I got for the guys who I think will go 30 & 31, so really not a big deal. But I'd like to grab an extra guy out of personal selfishness.

I don't know if my vote counts, but I don't think a Snake draft is the best thing for this situation. Sure the top drafting teams got an NHL player, but they were the teams that need an NHL player. The top teams in the league aren't in need of the help that this dispersal draft is providing.

If I have a vote, it's to keep it as is. No snaking.

Sabres are going to pick in almost exactly the same spot either way (or not pick) so no strong feelings

I could see the rationale behind a snake draft. at this point any player picked isn't going to help a team this year even a bad team, but the snake draft would come closer to allowing each franchise an equivalent chance at assets in this draft
