The first thing I thought of was the murder/attemped suicide in Lake Bonavista when I was younger. I couldn't find an article directly focusing on the incident, but this article touches on it:

It reminds me of the family murdered in Medicine Hat by the boyfriend of the teenage daughter.

Sad.

Regardless of how it happened, 5 people are dead and 2 of them very innocent kids. SOB this also makes me mad to think some person thinks they have the right to take another persons life.

Anyone watching/listening? I tuned in to QR77 just in time to hear something about an apparent murder suicide.

The scary thing is police kept saying it wasn't a random murder until the second family got murdered.
Wow, it's really hard to wrap ones brain around such mindless violence. Random killings are bad enough, but to stab and bludgeon a 4 and 9 year old to death is pure evil.

Cops see a lot of things in their careers, but to hear that they couldn't even talk to the media after viewing the scene speaks volumes about how disturbing it actually is. This is an unbelievably sad story. My thoughts go to the families involved, and those that actually have to deal with this first hand.

I'm going to guess that it was either gang or mafia related, or at the very least, it was more than one perp. How does one person stab five people at one home? It must have been Chuck Norris.

It was domestic...mo mafia involvement.

Me too. That was like a five minute walk from my house. I think of it every time I walk past that house. I see the new tenants happily gardening and I think, wow.

They are covering the story on CTV right now...

Just disgusting. WTF is wrong with people, no one involved deserved this, but to murder two innocent children just blows me away.

I hope they nail the SOB responsible to the wall. Literally.

That dude actually tutored my sister in math, or helped at Sam, one of the two. She knew him and that was a pretty tough day for her.

That was difficult watching the press conference with that high ranking CPS officer. I can't even imagine what that scene looked like.

Yes, poor you . WTF is wrong with some people?

I'm no Columbo, but...
They are unsure on how to break the news to their 5 year olds that their playmates were slaughtered? Seriously, kids can't wrap their heads around something like this.

It's a legitimate question and concern IMO. How do you explain to your kid they will never play with their friend again and why?

You can't take a sound bite and quote and chalk it up to "that person doesn't care about anyone but themselves".

CTV story has a family friend came across the crime scene when they came to pick up the children. I can't imagine the horror of finding that.

My heart goes out to all affected by this and especially that poor little 1 year old. I hope she's young enough that this will be quickly forgotten and not scar her for the rest of her life. I cross my fingers that she never witnessed anything which is possible given that the bodies were found in different rooms.

Could this be a blended family where one former spouse/partner lost it and committed this heinous act?

Brutal. I live just up the road. How in the world are we going to prevent crimes?
Stiffer penalties?
Cameras all over the place? That wont prevent crimes, but it will capture the evidence. All the privacy freaks will of course cry foul here.

Too bad people this young have to die this way. RIP.
