"Lost numbers ended up in $27m lotto win!" Most misleading headline ever!
What!!??? Stupid Calgary sun. I thought the guy bought his ticket using the numbers from the TV show Lost. But then i guess more there would have been more then 1 winning ticket.
I wanted to know if they would be cursed like Hugo, but it's just some stupid headline drawn up to create false interest.

That cheque sucks! If I won the lottery and they gave me a crappy normal sized cheque I'd go Happy Gilmore on their asses and demand a giant cheque.
As for the 'Lost' numbers. I bet that those are so commonly played that the day those numbers win, the pot will get split between 50,000 people.

I would argue that this is the most misleading headline ever.

The guy played the same numbers until he lost them a year ago so he had to start buying quick picks? You'd think that after 9 friggin' years of weekly lotto buys he'd have memorized the numbers.

The TV show? I read the headline and thought the guy won the lottery but misplaced his numbers or ticket.

In March, The following numbers came up in Lotto 649: 23, 41, 42, 44, 45 and 46. The "bonus" number? 43.
Because the bonus number was 43, if you had 5 numbers plus the bonus you won less money than if you didn't have the bonus.
http://www.wclc.com/app/winning_numb...gameId=1015917
The difference was $1,193 to $2,223. The real kicker is that usually 5 + bonus wins you anywhere from $200,000 to $400,000. Hopefully nobody who had 5 + bonus that week quit their job!

How's that possible? Does everyone pick 43?

Because so many people (239) had as their six numbers: 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46.
If 43 came up among the top six numbers instead of 23, the winners would have had to share $16,712 instead of getting the $3 million jackpot.
