Team Ikea (nchl)
I remember a thread a while back about a couple of guys putting a team together called "team Ikea". I just wanted to let you know that you'll be playing against me and Jayems next game (June 5th), and that it should be a welcome change for both our teams.
The NCHL added two extra lower divisions this summer, and all the teams we used to be competetive against moved down a division, while we apparantly didn't get the memo. We've had some pretty rough games to start the year, as it seems you guys have too. Even though I always have fun, since rec hockey is about coming out and getting drunk and playing hockey, I'm still looking forward to this game, as by the looks of the boxscores, we should be fairly even. We'll see you out there.
Good luck.
BTW Has the league approached you guys about moving down at all? I've heard it's really hard to move down in this league, and I think only one of us or you guys is going to get moved down, unfortunitly.

Which teams moved down? I know fubarz did, but who else can we look forward to losing against?
I don't recognize the Red Jox or Ice Storm...are they former B teams?

looking forward to it, it should be fun
and ya, we got beat pretty bad in our first two games
The jets are apparently an "A-div" team and blew us out 24-3 in game one
second game wasnt exactly stellar either, but we are a new team and had never played together before, but the last 2 games have us feeling a lot better

Team Ikea's woes clearly stem from the epic uselessness of this pathetic tool:

Yeah, I should make all the pre-10pm starts as I work at 5am and the late games just aren't going to happen.

Ha ha, the guy that put that team together used to play for us. That teams is all ex triple A players, and he "claims" that he asked for Div A, but was told there was only room in Div D south. I have since found out he never did request to play in Div A, lol. We played them last night, and they are that type of team that like to talk about how amazing they are, but would rather beat a bunch of weaker teams than face teams of the same calibre. It really speaks to their charcter.
They cheered like they had just won the cup in OT every time they scored, and then cheered loudly for a good two minutes at the final buzzer. Also, another one of their players was our goalie last season, and was replaced this summer for being an idiot on and off the ice (this guy actually made a save and then turned to the ref and said "can you believe I've only been playing goal for 2 years?"), so he was really bitter.
lol, he actually got into a scuffle with the GM of our team, and while they were in the box together, he told our guy to "quit hiding behind your gun and badge, and fight like a man", to which our guy replied "Do you see a gun and badge on me?, I'll fight you", The guy didn't say a word after that, lol.
So how many CP'ers do you guys have on your team?

Me and Rhettzky are the only ones that post with any regularity
Slopestylerails (the GM) has a couple of posts, and we have one other part-timer (Bumrush) who has all of one post on CP
as far as I know those are all teh CPers on the team that have registered, theres likely a few lurkers on the team
our first game with the jets wasnt too chippy, we got a different story from them though. We were told that the GM had changed, and the former GM had put them in D-div in previous seasons, so the new GM figured thats where they belonged.
The team captain came over to our bench during the second intermission and apologized, and told us that they were supposed to be in A, so that probably had a lot to do with it not getting too out of hand
our game last night though...that was chippy, and for whatever reason we were the only team that was being put down a man. My first shift I had a guy charge me as I was standing in the slot, busted my lip open, with no call. They were taking runs at us for most of the night, (one of our Dmen was boarded in the 3rd, again with no penalty) so much for non contact...

They're actually normally a Div A team every season, however this past winter, all our top players already had other teams, so we basically picked up a bunch of div C/D calibre players. But this summer we're back to having an 'A' lineup (except me ).

Ice Storm was team in my league this past winter, the CAHL. The CAHL is brutal, maybe they made the switch over.

Coincidentally our goalie's last name is Emery. Although he's white and doesn't fight players from the other team, so he doesn't really live up to his namesake. Although he did make nearly 50 saves last night.

Yeah they were feeding you BS. Their new GM knew they didn't belong in D, he was bragging months ago about how he was going to destroy the other team I play for in Div A. His deposit was in early enough that he easily could have put that team in A if he wanted, and it's no coincidence that he got "put" in the exact same division as our team right after we told #23 on their team that weren't inviting him back as our goalie for the summer, lol. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Yeah, team defense isn't really one of our strong areas.

At least last night the team looked half decent and competitive until our collapse in the 3rd. It felt like a night off there for a while
