Default Rain/Flood thread

I am too lazy to make a new thread, but this thread title sums up my thoughts right now.

Maybe I am just impatient, but after the garbage snow we had in april and part of may, we are now into what feels like persistent rain.

Piss-off rain.

MOD edit: New thread created.

I love the rain. Hell, the rain pulled my ass out of the fire today, I had to coach a soccer game and had very few available players, did I forfeit? Hells no, its a rainout!!

Oh shutup people.

I'd rather take the 2-1/2'' we've gotten so far, than a drought.

Supposed to get 5'' by the time its all over. A bit much, but still good. If we have good rain everywhere, there probably won't be a shortage of wheat, barley, corn, potatoes, etc, etc so prices won't be going up higher than they are now.

This storm system is huge, I think we're getting the same one down here. The weather has been crazy in Southern California, rain, hail, snow, tornados, etc.

Last weekend it was over 100 F, and now we're in the high 50's, low 60's for a holiday weekend. I'm not sure Dodger stadium is worth the risk tonight. Baseball isn't that exciting anyway and sitting there in frigidly cold temps and possibly being rained on doesn't sound very enjoyable. I want our normal spring weather...pronto!

Basements around here will probably start flooding too....if we get more than 6''.

I'll go help sandbag too, just like I did with the last flood....but come on, a flooded basement is better than food prices going even higher because there is a shortage due to a drought.

I'm loving every bit of this rain. I wish we'd get an hour or two of real torrential downpour this weekend; that'd be great. I'd be standing out on the balcony getting soaked to the bone.

I love the rain. I'd move to Vancouver or London for the rain.

It was only after I'd read the first couple of pages of this thread before I thought to look at the dates in the corners of the posts and realize that this is a 3-year old thread. Didn't think it seemed right High River would be getting socked again 2005-style, it's only been raining a couple of days...

Anyway flash forward to present day and I'm stuck at the office so I don't really care what the weather is doing - I might be more upset, actually, if it were sunny and warm and I was missing it.

I like the rain because I reseeded my back lawn last week and now I don't have to pay to water the S*** out of it.

Now now you grumpy townies, quit raining on my parade! () One thing I've learned is to never, ever complain about the rain. Rain is good! I'd take a flood over a drought every time. Remember back in 2002 when we had a drought? When it was plus forty for way too long? When an entire year of hard work by farmers was wrecked because we didn't have rain? Yeah, not a fun time, that year with no rain...I'd take rain any day of the week!

Do we really need to bump three year old threads? You're not going to get fata'd for a three year old thread!

Things are getting tense down at Millarville. If the rain does not let up soon, Threepoint Creek is going to flood into my parent's house.

Just as long as it doesn't rain and it's sunny on Tueday for one day.

I was a flood evacuee three years ago when it rained too much this time of year, so ya, it can back off a bit. Some rain is good, but there's no need for excess. Too much doesn't even help the farmers as it floods out all the low spots in their fields and kills their crops ... or carves washouts in hillsides.

Under a flood warning now.

Took a walk to the end of the block and saw that the river has overflowed the bank into low lying areas. The town built a berm last year and it's keeping the river out for now.

The river is also level with the train bridge. I expect that by morning it will be higher.

It's hasn't rained for over 4 hours so hopefully we've seen the last of the heavy rain. It's all that rain that fell in foothills today that has us concerned.

So much for those 1 in a 100 year floods they keep telling us.

Anyhoo, here's hoping the check value works if it comes to that.
