Is it restricted to living artists?

would like in

one thing I noticed is that there's only room for a musician if they play one of the four instruments listed. Right now an uilleann piper would be wasted on a soloist category.

I think it'll be great to see the verity of the selections and depth of the music consumed by us here

I'm in to win - except most of you will have never heard of my picks.

I might suggest categories for bands from geographic areas - countries and US States.

Ex. UK band, European Band, Down Under band (Aussie or Kiwi), Asian band, Spanish/Latin American band, Canadian band, World Music band, NY State, California - SW, NE, SE, Mid-West, NW etc.

Any genre.. not being able to compare people from different genres is the whole point

We can do geographic like the hottie draft.. like european, canada etc..

A uilleann piper? What's that? There will be wildcards again.

Any other categories you guys want? Not sure I can make a category for a uilleann

Yes the idea of a wildcard sounds perfect... thats exactly wild i was hinting at but couldn't think of a way to ask... this way any such odd instruments can find it's way in if the person choices. And defeinitly not a full catagory dedicated to uilleann pipes

as for asking what the uilleann pipes are, you can hear it here in one of my favourite recordings

I think continents is too broad.

Let's see if I can narrow it down;

UK-Europe
Down Under (Aus + NZ)
Canada
World (Asia, Africa, Latin America)
US: NY, NE, SE, SW, NW, Mid-west

That's 10 regions

Delete Band (maybe venue too) from your list, Could probably do without Producer

If I'm reading that right, thats 6 USA and 4 non-USA. Not sure i understand categories but it sounds interesting but as quoted I think it's way too US top heavy

I don't think you can delete band from the list. Venue and producer are deletions I would be fine with.

Are these regions defined? Like what region would someone from New Mexico or Missouri be in? And are there enough musicians in each of these regions? Remember more than 20 people will be in this draft.

I'll make it easy.... I'll be last, I just like the draft idea and finding out who'll end up picking. How something like this will matchup is an unmeasurable result. I'll be happy someone will heard of the bass player I'll choose, period. Not going to win any faceoffs if the majority of the people here have no knowledge of the musicians being named. I see it more of a chance to be introduced to some great musicians that I might not have had pointed to me before this.
