The scuttle around here is the iPhone to Rogers by the end of the year, if that makes a difference.

Rumours of June 9 for the iPhone launch are getting firmer, and some say it will be an international worldwide launch which would hopefully include Canada.

Even if you don't want an iPhone, it may change the dataplans in the industry, so it might be worth waiting for to see how the contracts shake out.

Personally I like the ability to switch phones often, so Fido for me (per second billing I like).

A bit off topic, but Photon, have you heard how much the iPhone will cost with a contract through Rogers? I'm not talking plans, but just for the device...

Nope, haven't heard anything at all.. I'm sure it'll be right at that level where people will go "HOW MUCH!?" but just cheap enough that they'll go ahead and buy it anyway.

iPhone is not really something I want or need, I have a iPod. Right now I don't have a cell phone and after some F-bombs I said to a fair number of people in the Telus store, I decided I was done with him. I need to get a phone again, so I won't be waiting.

I don't need 95% of the crap I buy...

On topic, I am with Rogers because I like the GSM phones. Switching SIM cards is so easy, and I just love that ability.

You just see if your # is available, and ask them to use it for the new phone.
I did that with rogers back in december.

Why would my number not be available?

To be honest, anyone is better than Telus. Signed a three year deal with them in January '07 and I'm counting down the days until that's over. I see someone mentioned Bell as junk, but I used them for years and never once had a prob with them. I've never used Rogers before(but I usually hear good things) so I can't say which is better than the other. But I'd still say Bell is a fine choice. I'm by no means a tekkie, just goin on past experiences.

I'm on Robbers (Rogers). Apart from ridiculous data charges with confusing limitations around them, they aren't too bad. I'll say this, the Customer Service is usually pretty good if you have a legit complaint. Last time I called they reversed charges and gave me a pretty good plan. Have a look at http://www.howardforums.com/ under the canadian providers and see which one has the least whiners.

IMO Telus. My family has 4 phones with them so we have quite a bit of leverage when we want something. All our phones have unlimited data for $15/month and fav 10 long distance for $39. I'd see what promo's Telus is running. They also have the best high speed wireless network.

I'm with Rogers, and I actually just got the "Your 3 months of unlimited calling is up" yesterday. I have an iPhone already so I was asking the guy what type of data plans would suit an iPhone. He said dont get one now because the iPhone is coming to rogers in the "next quarter" and they are going to have data plans designed for the iPhone.

I was with TELUS but moved last year because I just cannot stand them. I would have this 15 dollars a month radio charge EVERY month when I dont even have a phone that supports mobile radio. So I would have to phone them every month to take it off, it was just annoying. I will never go back to TELUS and I enjoy the SIM cards way better, just buy a new phone unlocked, put the SIM card in and its good to go. Rather than going through TELUS, asking them to activate it, then you get this 15 dollar "activation fee", its just brutal.

Here's a new one too: http://www.koodomobile.com/en/ab/index.shtml

Guys like Virgin, koodo, don't have their own network, they use existing ones. Virgin Mobile uses Bell's network I believe.
