I mean her bare legs. I defy you to find a picture of that.

From an old Calgary Herald article:

Shania gets a leg up
How the country superstar makes the most of her least favourite asset

Alexandra Burroughs
Calgary Herald

Tuesday, December 02, 2003

But in 1996, only a year after breaking into mainstream music, Twain confessed her unlikely fault to Chatelaine magazine. The comment began as a deflector from the bigger story: her bare belly.

"This is the midriff year," she said. "Who knows what it will be next year? I hate my legs, so I'll never have a leg year."

Never say never, Shania.

Since that time, Twain has been seen in some outrageous outfits that do, in fact, involve short shorts and micro-minis. Her secret is that she wears them with long, body-hugging jackets, midriff-baring tops and thigh-high boots (no leather, however; she's an animal lover).

"She's got a brilliant stylist," says Heather Mitchell of Holt Renfrew.

Mitchell notes that Twain often wears high heels and long, flared pants that not only lengthen the leg, but also give it some shape.

Her second album (Folklore) was more mature. Think "Forca", "Powerless" and "Try". It had this "I don't need you, I'm a strong woman" vibe to it. It was during this time that she gave birth to her daughter.

The third album though (Loose)? I mean the wheels just kinda fell off. She broke up with her daughter's father around this time and things seemed to change. Many of the songs and her entire image changed to be all skanky and sexual. Promiscuous Girl? Maneater? You don't have to look too hard to figure out that message.
Her third album is her most critically acclaimed, and it brought her money, fame and success in America. Not to mention heavy production by Timberland. It's the only one I'd consider buying.

The first record scored 79, the third 71, and the second was 60.

Her third album won her more awards and got her more press, no doubt. It's not a bad album if you're into that kind of thing but there was a noticeable shift in her image and PR from Folklore to Loose. I would argue that Folklore was probably her best album so far.

Mariah Carey's career (save for the Glitter low-light) kind of followed a similar trajectory. Early on she was noted for her incredible vocal range and pure singing abilities. Talented and classy. Then she decided she was going to be all sexy and stuff. She still has unparalleled range and the abilities are all still there... it's just now she's hotter and probably has enjoyed more mainstream success than she would have had she continued her more conservative career.

Gawd, I feel like a ###### for debating this.

What system do they use for sticking these numbers next to albums?

Really good site, but unfortunately a pretty bad numbering system.

All this proves is that I don't know squat about good music. That was already pretty clear.

No, you were right. Folklore was her best record IMO.

You give critics too much credit. I don't give a rats ass about what anyone else thinks. If I like the sound personally, then it's good. Bottom line. What makes Joe Blow music guy qualified to tell me what my ear is going to like?

So here's to Shania emerging as a cougar on the prowl. Time to cast off that wholesome image and get back to the leopard print pants.
ha ha this post is hilar and considering the story i heard about Furtado and her promiscuous ways..around her hometown...with another local celebrity....(again from a reliable source, but who knows)...too graphic to post.

If you're going to name the hip hop produca, shouldn't you get his name right? It's Timbaland, not Timberland.
