Who wants some SNOW!?!?
I was just reading up on the latest and it looks like snow will be starting soon, during or at the tail end of rush hour.
CALGARY IS STILL IN RAIN. LOWLVL WINDS BRINGING IN WARMER
TEMPERATURES FROM THE SOUTHEAST. HOWEVER AS LOW SLIDE SOUTHWARDS RAIN SHOULD
START TURNING TO SNOW BY 00Z WITH ABOUT 10 TO 20 CM EXPECTED BY LATE
FRIDAY MORNING .
Looking at the radar, we are in the calm before the storm (literally).
Also, for anyone more in the SW (around Vulcan), it looks like there is the possibility of cold core funnels forming. They arent really dangerous or anything, but they are cool to see.

This is ridiculous. I might be able to get a round of golf in by around August at this rate.
Global warming my ass.

Well, it looks like soccer is cancelled. To the bar!!
Thanks for the heads up KG.
By the way, what are cold core funnels? Spinning tornadoes of cold death Day After Tomorrow style?

Wiki can probably describe it better than I can..
Unlike the related phenomenon associated with severe thunderstorms, cold-air funnels are generally associated with partly cloudy skies in the wake of cold fronts, where atmospheric instability and moisture is sufficient to support towering cumulus clouds but not precipitation. The mixing of cooler air in the lower troposphere with air flowing in a different direction in the middle troposphere causes the rotation on a horizontal axis, which, when deflected vertically by atmospheric conditions, can become a funnel cloud.

I start a new job tomorrow, I so don't want to have to deal with snow on the commute.

Looks like the lobster claw of doom is about to clamp down upon us. I for one welcome our snowy, clampy overlord. He pretty much guarantees that there'll be no fire ban for MayLong. On that note, I will organize a coup if he is still around next week.

We've already had a large snow "event" come through here the entire morning. Made the drive to work on the highway this morning very exciting. It was coming down so quickly that it didn't having time to melt and was actually accumulating.

OT: Does anyone know if anything close to The Day After Tomorrow is even remotely plausible?

It's funny... when it was snowing here this morning, everyone at work commented on how it looked like The Day After Tomorrow.
Sorry, a little off-topic... I have no clue about the answer you seek.

You mean the cold chasing you through the halls like the Terminator? I didn't think that was possible until I watched the movie. Now it makes perfect sense!

Obviously its greatly exaggerated, but we are overdue for another ice age, and it will happen slowly but exponentially quicker as the spreading ice reflects the suns rays.

But..everything we've been told leads us to believe ice will no longer exist in a few years.

It's already here! I'm still in sunlight downtown but my office faces East and the sky looks a deep navy blue and the Herald Building is starting to look dark.
