San Andreas was great for that.

half-pressing the aim button enables free aiming. Full-pressing the aim button locks on.

Sweet! Good to know.. I am one impatient guy when it comes to video games, can't ever be bothered to read manuals or the little instructions on-screen.
Anyway. Killing rampage coming up later this evening.

I haven't played a mission for a while... Its been suicide attempts galore as of late. There's nothing funnier than hitting a ramp, top speed, then all of a sudden bailing from the vehicle in mid flight.

Since I can't play GTAIV (no console) I've replayed GTA San Andreas and am heading into the last mission.
I'd fogotten how long it took to play SA even without doing the side mission stuff like Dating, hunting for tags and oysters and horse shoes. Doing the trucker runs and the paper deliveries.
I did enjoy the mission where you snuck into an aircraft carrier, stole the harrier, shot down 3 other harriers and then sank 4 spy ships.
There are just some insane missions, and some great humor in SA.

Absolutely.... Trying to find the weapons on the chopper.
Hitting the propeller on the way out is cool too.

Haha Im in the same boat as you, and did the exact same thing. I forgot about how ridiculously frustrating some of those missions are. The worst were the ones when you were helpin the guy who was voiced by David Cross(AD's Tobias). I wanted to pull my hair out on the mission when you're on his roof shootin down the mini-bombers, I seriously almost stopped playing the game forever after trying that mission 100 times the first time around.

Actually how's the music in GTA IV? I was playin Vice City the other day and forgot how great the music was. I felt San Andreas was a bit of a letdown in that dept. My buddy picked up GTA IV last week and said the music blows, but he's got weird taste in music.

It's not bad. A lot of variety, more so then any of the other games. The talk shows are hilarious, but I'm sure they just piss off most right wing type people. Rockstar went a little overboard on the political satire.
But Vice City still reigns as the GTA game with the best music.

vice city will never be beaten in any game ever for best music. GTA4 isn't very commercial at all. Apparently they took people who were really into the genres of music and had them select the tunes, so if you aren't into a specific genre you may find it all to be new.
San Andreas had my least favorite mission of all time. I played it so many times it's title is burned into my memory . . . Supply Lines. Flying little rc planes around the city shooting people. You wouldn't think it would be hard, and yet here I am, complaining about it 4 years later.

What a great game....I'm hooked.
I went out and bought a PS3 just to play this sucker.
I'm expecting it will take a few months to finish but for $60 it's great value.

I did, but only after finally getting my buddy to come over(who had already beat the game), sit next to me while I did it, and verbally guide me through it step by step. And even then I STILL couldn't get it. But I remembered what he told me, and finally got it that night after he had already left. Lucky for the game, as it was about 20mins away from a date with my microwave.

I think that the supply line mission was probably the second most difficult one in the entire game.
The other really tough one and I forget the name of it was taking back the mansion, you had to clear out that mansion room by room and chase the drug dealer out. then get into the most fragile and hardest to control car in the game and chase him through the hills while trying not to explode.
I hated that nerd, I was happy when CJ punched him in the face after the casino robbery.
The other really tough mission was chasing down the mafia guys who were in a jet, and you had to catch them in a prop driven plane. If you didn't get the turn exactly right they were gone.
Here's hoping that GTA IV is eventually ported to the PC.

The real secret to that mission was not going full throttle throughout the game, you almost wanted to run it at stall speed so you could really machine gun the s.

If I recall correctly I ended up beating the mission by landing my little plane on the street and just shooting from there. Not exactly how it was meant to be done, but flying that thing was going to give me a stroke.

That works too. I like to dive bomb. I'd get right over top and throttle off, dive right at the courier guns blazing and then throttle up just before I hit the ground, and go find the next guy.

Yeah, those model plane missions almost ruined my faith in video games. I ended up just getting my brother to beat it for me after failing it about 19 times in a row.
