I would say you can get away with nailing her but not a relationship. Get it up, get it in, get it out, and get lost!

I had a friend who did this. I wasn't the party involved on either side, but it has seemed to work out and now the two are in a pretty serious relationship.

As someone who has made this mistake, don't go there for more than a pit stop. If you know what I mean.

Don’t do it
You stand to hurt your good friend over a girl, right there not worth it
What you need to realize in a situation like this one is that there are so many women out there, Really they are everywhere…there is a never ending supply of them
So is this one girl in gigantic ocean worth upsetting your buddy? I doubt it

I'd laugh if a friend hooked up with an Ex of mine.
I've always wanted to use that line...
Every time you kiss her, you're tasting me.

My face is a bum!

I would say for myself any girl I haven't been with for over 2 years (if it was serious, less if it wasn't) I would give my friends the green light to hammer away on. Aint no fun if my homies can't have none.
Or maybe the rule should be not the last girl your friend was with, but any before that? That way you know he moved on.

So far, it seems the general consensus is: "Relations" A-OK, "RelationSHIP" definite no-no. Which is sort of where I'm at. BTW I told my buddy I'd pick him up after work to go have a beer. At some point I'll just toss in "yeah...so I wanna boink your ex.."

Jessie is a friend,
yeah, I know he's been
a good friend of mine
But lately something's changed
that ain't hard to define
Jessie's got himself a girl
and I want to make her mine
And she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body,
I just know it
Yeah 'n' he's holding her
in his arms late,
late at night
You know, I wish that I had Jessie's girl,
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find a woman like that

I would say overall she's quite clingy and unambitious. But as I said, I'm not really looking for a relationship whatsoever. One night. Maybe two..or three..

I know two couples exactly like this (only minus the marriage at this point and kids, however I'd expect both for both in the future).
In one case, the ex-boyfriend doesn't talk to his former best friend
In the other case the ex-boyfriend doesn't talk to his ex-girlfriend, but is still best friends with his old pal. (mind you the ex-boyfriend moved away for work)
In both cases it's kinda awkward when everyone's around each other. But when the ex-boyfriend and the one he's still on good terms with are around every thing's fine.
So . . . don't be the one your buddy comes to hate, LOL.

How desperate would you have to be to hook up with a buddy's ex? honestly? out of all the chicks out there why pick one that your suppossed friend has an emotional attachment to?
In a perfect world where the guy has made a clean split and his ego won't be bruised I'd say go for it. But i'm willing to bet a million bucks he'd be resentful unless your buddy has an abundance of women and a carefree attitude. Guys like that are pretty rare.

First you ask why I would go for a hot girl that has made all the advances on me, then you say guys who have an abundance of women are pretty rare.
So...yeah.

It also depends on how and for what reason they broke up too, honestly. If say, they broke up cuz he cheated on her, then I don't see a problem with hooking up with her. If it's the other way around, then for sure you should stay away. If it was a mutual breakup, then it also depends, although I'd lean towards staying away. If he's a really good friend, unless you're ok with potentially jeopardizing the friendship, I wouldn't go for it.
