GDT May 4th: SW Calgary Puckers vs. Good Times
Prediction? Bad Times for Good Times.*
The first game of the season will truly be a test of the mental strength of CP's vaunted Calgary Puckers Beer League Softball team. They are facing adversity in one of its most vile and despicable personas in the form of injury.
Aeneas, the Big Man, has given way. He is in hospital in the intensive care unit and his survival is uncertain at best. The prognosis is not good. He may have to have his testicles amputated, the doctors wont say for sure, they did however suggest that perhaps we should replace him with an illegal mexican alien that are purportedly widely available at Cash Corner.
Somehow, the great SW team must guzzle beer and indeed, actually play some softball, amidst the turmoil of these tumultuous times.
So, armed only with beer and illegal mexicans, we shall demonstrate our mettle, our determination, our beer chugging prowess and yes, perhaps even our ungainly, yet effective, field style against our adversaries who seem dedicated to Good Times yet are blissfully unaware of the coming storm of raging drunks and pinatas filled with death.
Go team SW!!

8-6 CalPuck
Without their star short stop and emotional leader, the Puckers rally late in the fifth to grab a lead and hold on. Controversy strikes when 4x4 parks too close to the back stop and troutman fouls one off his windshield.

Good Times Theme (from 70's sitcom)
Good Times.
Any time we meet a patsy. - Good Times.
Any time we need a win. - Good Times.
Any time we're at the ball-park.
Locke getting hammered, trout hitting homers.
Keepin’ our team on the offence,
Hitting a batter when we can.
Rinkrat throwing strike-outs - Good Times.
Junky hits the cycle. - Good Times.
Boozing and trash-talking . - Good Times.
Aeneas in recovery - Good Times.
Ain’t we lucky we got ‘em - Good Times.
Weather looks good today after earlier forecasts called for rain. If it does get cloudy, Aeneas says there is a phone # we can call to see if games get canceled. We'll try to post the number later.
I might pick-up Aeneas to bring him to the victory party after the game.

So, Just like a Flames game can I keep updated on this thread from my hospital bed via laptop?
Good job Locke. Throw a wet blanket on the Good Times.
Good to have the real league up and running after the minor league affiliate gained a win.

We were thinking of doing this for our first game but it didn't work out to make a thread.
Good luck team, and don't forget to ask if you need a spare.

Prediction:
CP's Minor League Affiliate: 6
Good Times: 11
I guess what really matters is that you guys go out, have fun, work on your skills and possibly one day you may be brought up to the big leagues.

The Warriors send out best wishes to the Central teams farm affiliate, the Calgary Puckers, Jr.
Instead of creating an OOT for our game, I thought I would share the results here. Our Warriors defeated Balls Deep 17-7 in the first game, and added a 22-11 mercy win in the second. Bats were on, defense was good. Pitcher Shawnski was 2-0 in two complete games striking out two and walking none.

Glad to hear that your team won, Shawnski! Wondering if the reason we don't know what the score was for SW's game is because they lost and are embarrassed?

Close games but lost both. We hung in there until the end. They had two ex-MLB players (I kid you not) and that made the difference. SW will shake off these two heartbreaker losses and look to go 2-2 by next Sunday.

No worries. We're all used to slow starts here in Calgary.
