Trooper!!!

Can't believe that from all the old stuff I have, I didn't have "3 Dressed Up As A 9".

Saw a "Best of" at WalMart ($10!) tonight and figured what the heck... Turns out there were 5 other songs I didn't have, and didn't even know Trooper did. No wonder they are considered such a fun live act.

Here is the list of songs you get for $10...

We're Here For A Good Time (Not A Long Time)
General Hand Grenade
3 Dressed Up As A 9
Whatcha Gonna Do About Me
Ready
Oh Pretty Lady
Two For The Show
One Good Reason
Baby Woncha Please Come Home
The Boys In The Bright White Sports Car
Round, Round We Go
Santa Maria
Say Goodnight
(It's Been A) Long Time
Raise A Little Hell

12 of those 15 are good, if not great classic rock songs.

How old is old? Does stuff like Operation Ivy, Dead Kennedys, and The Sex Pistols apply? Although not newly discovered I have started listening to them again and remember why I liked punk rock.

Although if you consider the amount of make up the girls had on, they might as well be clowns.

and by extension Powerstation

Oh, and some Iron Maiden too.

I always thought that video belonged to another song! He did the same thing twice? This song is much better than Addicted to Love

I've been putting together a playlist of 80's songs for hubby's 40th birthday. What great music. Although not all the songs I've rediscovered fall into that category, I just can't believe how much fun these bands are:

.38 Special
Scorpions
April Wine
Skid Row
Cheap trick
Honeymoon Suite
Chilliwack
Styx
Loverboy

Good times. Good times.

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.

Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.

Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family.
You tried to teach me right from wrong.
Too much wine and too much song,
wonder how I get along.

Goodbye, Papa, it's hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Little children everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, all have gone.

Goodbye, Michelle, my little one.
You gave me love and helped me find the sun.
And every time that I was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on the ground.

Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
when all the bird are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
With the flowers ev'rywhere.
I whish that we could both be there.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfishs on the beach

I just got my copy of Willie Nelson's new box set "One Hell of a Ride". I know it's not everyone's taste, but it shows how good country and folk music was and still can be. This box set has songs I haven't heard along with some of his greatest hits. Definately a must own if you are a fan of his.

To name some not including the easy ones like old U2/Beatles/Stones/Who
Platinum Blonde (I know, I know...)
Bob Seger
Billy Idol
The Cars
Journey
Bruce Hornsby
Carly Simon
Fleetwood Mac (or better yet : Stevie Nicks solo)
INXS
Tracy Chapman
James Taylor
Joni Mitchell
Johnny Cash
Police
Public Enemy
Rush
Supertramp
The Who
54-40
Many old Canadian bands that seem better now then they did in the past ie: Grapes of Wrath, April Wine, Trooper, Sloan, Cowboy Junkies, Hayden, Robbie Robertson, and what the heck even Gowan....

I am a 24 year old guy. The music I listen to is generally only known to people who are twice my age. (I'm guessing that's the way it is in this thread too). Absolutely NONE of my friends know the music that I listen to.

My favorite band is Platinum Blonde. Serious. It made for some awkward highschool back in the 90s when everybody was listening to Nirvana/REM/Smashing Pumpkins, grundge, Boys II Men, etc. and when they asked me what I had in my discman at the bus stop...

I recentely discovered King Kobra, another awesome cheesy 80s Pop/Rock band after trying to track down who wrote some songs for Kick-Axe (a mid-80s Saskatchewan based band). Listening right now. So good!!! 80s Canadian bands are great. Still looking for a few Haywire albums and I'm missing Platinum Blonde Best of Live :P

I have really been enjoying the 80's tunes on my XM radio. Lots of one hit wonders I had forgotten about and actually like.

Found an old cassette that had some good ones on it.

Matthew Sweet. I had forgotten how good some of his stuff was.
Billy Joel. He was/is great.
Some older Ween stuff.
Anybody here a fan of Course of Empire? I loved their INITIATION album. Not sure if they have done anything for awhile though.

Does Rush count as old music? Or am I just old enough now to be suddenly interested in Rush?

By the bands you are quoting were popular in High School, I would think you were closer to 34, not 24?

Oh, and some Scorpions and Supertramp but I am pretty sure they have been mentioned as well.

In other news IRON MAIDEN IN A MONTH.
