So I'm going golfing for ten days to Palm Springs. I have never golfed there before, but I imagine a few CPers would have so just asking you guys: any courses you would recommend? Also any one, two, or four-day type golf schools you would recommend? I'm a high 80s shooter but wouldn't mind taking a couple days to take a few more shots off my game.

Pete Dye and Gary Player courses. I spent 7 days down there in 2006, and they are abosultely beautiful courses.

I took 5-day gold school there... they work you 8 until 2 with a PGA professional, and then you're allowed to do the course after that as much as you want.

BTW, if you're going in April / May... it's ridiculously hot there, and there's nobody on the courses... best time to golf in Palm Springs without question.

How much did you pay for the golf school?

Wouldn't be able to tell ya... it was a grad present

I would think, with residence at the hotel and everything... you're looking somewhere into the $1500-$3000 range, just depending on where you stay.

That sounds about right, thanks. I got a pat on the back for my grad

You're looking at about $2500-$3000 for a 5-day golf school, and a few hundred off for a 3-day. Plus, your price does go up if you choose to have unlimited golf, which, although expensive, is definitely worth it. I say that because if you go in May/June and don't mind playing in 35 degree weather, the courses are GLORIOUS and they're EMPTY. Perfect!

Pfffft to hot weather...seriously what else is there to do there during the day other than golf? It would be a great chance to practice the things I'm being taught...I was thinking closer to $2K for a 5-day school but nonetheless I'll most likely pony up. I heard it is often cheaper to golf there during May/June months because it is considered off-season?

It is, but you're also going to have to stay in a 5-star resort (such as the Westin Mission Hills like we did) in order to get on the decent courses. So yes, it is off-season and is cheaper, but it's proportionate.

Well worth the money though. Palm Springs courses are in a class of their own.
