Nine Inch Nails are coming
Playing the Saddledome July 29th.
http://www.nin.com/
I know there are a few fans on the board. Personally I am excited as hell. May even have to make a quick trip up to Stabmonton on the 28th and catch both shows.

I had tickets to see them a couple years ago in Ottawa. A day or two before the concert it was cancelled because Trent Reznor lost his voice.
Then last year I had tickets to see them here in Sydney. I had first night tickets which I had to trade in for second night tickets. I heard the first night was awesome. The second night was cancelled because Trent Reznor lost his voice.
Thus I have still never seen them, although I do have a couple ticketing refund horror stories to tell thanks to them.

Actually, the With Teeth Tour he did with QOTSA and DFA1979 a couple years ago in Calgary was one of his favorites. Infact, he specifically asked for the original tapes from that show because he thought it was one of the best he'd ever done. This comes from friends in the music industry who were involved in bringing him here to Calgary.

I went to that show mostly to see QOTSA. Their set was disappointing, but NIN really rocked. I wasn't a huge fan, knew some of the hits, but still really enjoyed the show.

Saw them in 2005, both in Edmonton and then Calgary the next night. What a great couple of shows, the mosh pit in Edmonton we broke the barrier and security had to put the show on hold fo 5 or 10 minutes to fix that thing! After the show in Edmonton, we walked around Rexall to see their tour bus. Sure thing, just after passing Leduc the next day we passed both busses, that was kind of cool.
Awesome shows, can't wait to do it again!

I saw that one, too... what a wicked show. I love every band on that ticket... DFA broke up soon after that - which really, really sucked.

Again?
Weird how in the past 3 years Canada has become a viable market for these bands.
Prior to 2003(ish) bands like RHCP, NIN, Pearl Jam would never do Canadian arena tours. Now they never miss Canada.

I've never seen any of those bands stateside, but I'd guess since they never really came to Canada often (at least Alberta) that there seems to be more of a buzz. I remember last time Trent came said during one of the shows "Canada... wow, who would have thought? F*** the US!"

They don't really "pick" places like Lloyd, the booking agent just feels out where the interest is and what offers are out there. Seeing how the band was commited to touring and working that last album hard, that was probably relayed to the agent and he just booked them and kept them working as long as the routing made sense.

This is actually more then just for this particular genre of music. A lot more acts are coming up to Canada in the past few years, from more heavy metal acts to the likes of Weird Al. Biggest reason for this is the appreciation of the C$.

I saw NIN here in 2006 (at the same arena where the QC Flames play) and they put on a great show.
