Default The Strangers (new scary movie)

I think this show may have potential. The trailer gives me the creeps. Seems to be a story line that will get people checking their closets and locking their doors before bed.

It's an American movie, so everyone doesn't die.

Have you seen the American Version of Michael Haneke’s “Funny Games”?

Starting Naomi Watts and Tim Roth…

Very sort synopsis with Spoilers: Two young men break into a young families (Husband, Wife, 10 year old son) summerhouse in Massachusetts. At first welcomed in but when they are asked to leave they attack the husband (Tim Roth). From there they play a series of games with purpose of torturing the young family. The main game being a wager with the family that at 9:00 am the next morning they will dead. After awhile they shoot the young son with a shotgun. They leave the parents to grieve and try and get some help. But just as you think they have escaped there nightmare they re-capture them shoot the husband and drown the Wife (Naomi Watts). The film ends with them knocking on the door of the next house over to repeat the process

holy crap... that does look pretty scary. Kind of like a more atmosphere heavy version of... whatever that movie was with Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale in the motel room.

I like scary flicks... thanks. I don't really go in for the whole gore or torture-porn thing that's en vogue these days. Movies like 'Hostel' and 'Saw' don't scare me, they just gross me out.

The last genuinely scary one I saw was 'The Descent'. That had one had me pretty stressed in the theatre! Check it out if you haven't!

I imagine this one would creep me right out. Movies dealing with killing where there is really no discernible reason for the killing, just very random stuff, home invasions or whatnot, scare the beejeebus out of me. I didn't think Vacancy was a good movie, but the idea of it terrifies me. I am not sure I will ever be able to stay in a motel or hotel without thinking about it, or doing a sweep for cameras, etc.

I'll still probably see it though, in the end, I do like the scary movies.

The trailer for this one is pretty good.

oh ya... 'Vacancy'... that's it. Ya that seems like it's pretty similar to this one. It was ok... a few scary things. Pretty light, though, overall.

I know what you mean about being scared by things that seem to be happening for no reason. When there's a reason for the evil, it's less scary. But when there's seem to be no reason for it - and its plausible, realistic scenarios that could actually happen - it can really creep you out.

One of the scariest movies I've ever seen is 'The Vanishing'. Both the original Dutch version and the American remake are scary (though they have different endings)... I mean, you don't see anything bad per se... but I can't stop at a gas station/restroom on a road trip without it crossing my mind. Check it out... it's a really deep look into the nature of evil and how people deal with loss (and not knowing what happened to those you lost). Scary!

Frick.. That trailer had me creeped out. The music does wonders in that trailer. Don't know if I could see this movie or not. Wonder how it'll compare to Session 9 - Still one of the craziest, suspenseful 'scary' movies I have seen.

The Vanishing, I have seen. It's the one with Sandra Bullock and Keifer Sutherland right?

Yeah, any movie that messes with your sense of security is creepy to me.

Are you serious? Session 9? Is that the one with David Carusso, or am I thinking of the wrong movie?

Yeah - Great creepy movie. I'd give the scary edge to the Dutch
version, but the American version was good as well.

Aye, that's the one. I thought they did a good job with the suspense in that movie. I also liked how they did it. Nothing over the top, no real crazy visual/sound effects. It was simple yet still got the job done. Different strokes for different folks I guess

Ya, 'The Vanishing' stars Keifer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock. Like w00b, I think the Dutch original is scarier. Its ending really sticks with you.

I'm so tempted to find out the ending of 'The Strangers'. I'll hold off though!
