Default The Ponies

I'm going to the track to do a little gambling and such...problem is that I have next to no idea what I'm doing. I've been before and just looked at the odds and put a bet on the longshots or things like that.

Anyone have any great advice, or a system that might actually see me win a bet here or there?

The shorter the odds the better your chance of winning, unfortunately that also means winning very little.

If the number 5 horse is grey, bet on it. (this is a secret strategy for betting on horses that a friend of mine uses) (he might be crazy)

Slightly on the same topic, I thought they said we were done with horse racing at Stampede Park. Now the comercials are back. Did we get them back somehow?

As for me, as a rookie better I stick to betting on some medium-long shot as $2 to show, and a favourite as $2 to place. I usually end up somewhere between down $10 and up $40 (usually down though) and end up having a lot of fun cheering on my horse(s).

They were extended at Stampede until next year I think...just until the Balzac track opens.

I just bet on the horse with the best name, or a long shot for the big win. I was kind of hoping someone could enlighten me though and help me lose a little less!

Look at the racing program and see how the horse has fared in similar conditions, race lengths, last few races... Gives you a little more insight...

speaking of track conditions, surely they must cancel races on days like this, no? i woke up this morning wanting to head down tonight, but i doubt i will now. not as fun if you cant see the race.

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, for example... sounds impressive, right? But have you ever seen what happens if you put something in acid? It dissolves! If we had all this acid in our cells, we'd all dissolve! So much for the Theory of Evolution, Check MATE!
