I don't know. Can't you find a more impartial source than the HHMI? They're well known to be beholden to "big science."

These aren't by any chance being produced and distributed by the Edmonton Oilers?
I find that hugely ironic, because the only way they make the playoffs is if God himself steps in and makes it happen.

The DVD's arrived last week, very quick turn around!
The Evolution ones are terrific, Ken Miller does them and also talks about the Dover case and the current 'debate' with ID.
Basically does Science proud answering a lot of questions for people who are religious and are struggling with accepting evolution as part of their faith.
Anyhow, I hope someone else here gets them, I'd love to hear what any other CPers think.
Did I mention, FREE?

You'll clearly have to state your scientific/religious views and any biases or preconceptions and general opinions on this issue before anybody even becomes remotely interested in checking this out because this thread reeks of propaganda for one camp or another.
BTW, I think these videos are all on youtube, no need to get "FREEEEEE" DVDs...

These are Evolution DVD's, science for people who want to learn more.
Amongst the DVD's are ones on Biology, Genetics, AIDS virus, etc.. This is SCIENCE, not propaganda.
If you ordered DVD's on astronomy or physics, would that be propaganda?
I guess you could argue its propaganda, the one on the AIDS virus was obviously propoganda
Those sneaky Howard Hughes Medical Institute people!
Youtube is crappy quality, these are DVD's you can sit and watch in the comfort of your couch.

Propaganda? It's a science DVD, that's hardly propaganda.
Ken Miller is a Catholic and I think a pretty good unbiased source, he has his religious beliefs but also adheres to science and really addresses the issues for religious people that might have problems reconciling evolution with their religion*.
*He doesn't do this by promoting ID or compromising the science.
Finding Darwin's God is one of the books I'd like to read.

I didn't say that HHMI stuff is propaganda, just the way Thor presented this thread so ambiguously. Sounded a lot like the Chris Limberg threads about the NA Monetary Union in converting people to reading or watching material without actually explaning what it was or why before hand.
Everytime somebody emphasizes: "no catch! free ________, go get them and watch and learn" it generally means they have a view they want to propagate and I'm naturally wary of those things.
Honestly, the classic CP discussions on evolution and science would probably do more to challenge or convince people into thinking critically on the subject than asking people to order free DVDs (which again, are all available on Youtube).
And contrary to what people think, science can very much be propagandist in nature or presented in that way.

I guess you could see it that way, I didn't but probably because I've seen them highly recommended elsewhere on science oriented forums and I think they're targeted more at education and medical professionals and such.

Maybe it's because I just watched the South Park Scientology episode only minutes ago.
"Free personality test! No catch!"
My issue is not with the HHMI videos (which I've seen before, found them a bit bland and walking the line a little too much) but with how I was told to go get some free DVDs.

My DVDs just arrived... ill get back to everyone w/ the prophaganda verdict. I may, however, be biased since I have a degree in biology and worked in a genetics research lab.

Is there a DVD about being cryogenically frozen for perpetuity?
EDIT: This might not make sense because I was mistakenly under the impression that Howard Hughes was frozen. Turns out I am wrong. Even Walt Disney is not actually frozen. Is Ted Williams the only one?

I thought it was only Ted's head? Maybe that is too much Jim Rome though!
