Someone just mentioned that Lenny (from Laverne and Shirley) was also in Spinal Tap. I find this hard to believe. Can it be true? Does anyone know?

Of course it can be, he is a very talented comedian. He was also nominated for an Oscar last year for his song in "A Mighty Wind"

What is so hard to believe? All three players from Spinal tap are extremely talent and have an interesting background.
Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) is an accomplished actor as well, having played the six fingered man in "The Princess Bride" and the doctor in "A Few Good Men". As well, he's married to Jamie Lee Curtis, so he gets props for that work as well!

Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls) has also been in a ton of stuff, but is most famous as the voices for half of the cast of "The Simpsons".

Of course, all together these three brilliant comedians make up Spinal Tap/the Folksmen and have written/produced some extremely memorable films that have become cult classics (This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, A Mighty Wind, etc.). These three guys are right up there with Monty Python in the ability to make magic happen out of nothing.

I could be mistaken, but I think he has directed some sitcoms and has been employed as a writer for some.

I think I have also heard his voice in some cartoons.

David Lander is currently a scout for the Seattle Mariners organization. I kid you not.

Speaking of Tap: I received the DVD I ordered from amazon today. I'm about to watch it.
My speakers don't go to 11, though.

After you watch the movie, re-watch it with the commentary turned on. Harry Shear, Christopher Guest, and Michael McKean do commentary of the movie as their Spinal Tap characters. Really funny stuff.

Marty DiBergi: Oh, there actually is, uh... there was a Saint Hubbins?
David St. Hubbins: That's right, yes.
Marty DiBergi: What was he the saint of?
David St. Hubbins: He was the patron saint of quality footwear.
