Yeah Halleys Comet was by then...and theoretically would be back in another 76 years from then. Too bad that the world ends before that...who knew?!
Good news....who cares about global warming!! We can't possibly melt all of the ice caps by then!!

I'll be thirty two, and the way I see it, if I'm going to die I will completely devote my life to debauchery.

Hit the booze & blow hard enough and that will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I've talked to a few old timers about these doomsday scenarios, and they said the paranoid fringe have been predicting the end of the world for as long as they can remember, which in the case of some of these old boys went back to the 1800s. So far the doomsdayer's track record for accuracy is pretty bad ... or pretty good I guess considering a correct prediction would provide a rather negative outcome. But hey, I'll be pounding back the pints in July before they flip the switch on the black hole generator. Being a beer slut, any excuse will do.

Oh yeah, the black hole generator. Thats either going to be a failure of epic proportions or an incredible success that ends in a catastrophe of epic proportions.
Either way we're pretty screwed!
Why did they think this would be a good thing to build?

Meh ... it's just a bunch of environmental extremist types who are shrieking about this. I figure the scientists who built it (it's called a Large Hadron Collider) might know a little more about what they're doing than a bunch of professional alarmists. They're not actually trying to generate a black hole (just collide a few particles of something or other at near speed of light velocities), but a few environmental alarmists think that a black hole might be the unintended outcome. What I don't get is why the knit-your-own-underwear crowd is so worked up about this ... a black hole sounds like a good way to clean up the 'hood to me. Presto ... no more worries about pollution, global warming, species extinction, etc. Rain forest decimation? What rain forest?
On the other hand, Norway has built a doomsday bunker inside some mountain on an Arctic island to hold a seed bank of all known varieties of the world's crops. It seems to me the bunker was just sealed at the end of February this year and contained something like 5 million seeds. I'm sure they're just hedging their bets. I hope they don't forget pot seeds though ... just in case ya know. For medicinal purposes.
Whatever ... I don't take anything for granted and this is still a good excuse for a beer fest.

So many people excited to see the end of the world and end of so much human life.
Very nice of these people to wish the deaths of so many.

I believe it's just a sarcastic expression of skepticism regarding the lunatic fringe.

Not referring to this thread, to the fact over 40% of the US christians believe end of days is going to happen in their lifetime.

The world ended, you were saved by aliens, they hooked you up to a virtual reality machine and they've been experimenting on you ever since.
Expect this message to get wiped when They discover it - it's a sad truth that I will be punished for telling you. In fact, I think I hear them outside the

There is a simple solution to this whole impending doom. Just remove Dec. 21,2012 from the calendars. Done and done.

Why do you have to ruin the fun of the Mayans? Can't we just respect everyone's religious beliefs?
If the world ends on that day I will be dead so meh. Don't worry about it now.
