Regardless of whether or not people agree, the Calgary Flames organization officially named it (and market it as) the "C of Red."
They did it in 1986 (I was there!), and they still do it today. It's really just that simple.

Thanks for the link.
What I don't understand is why anybody ever argued the point - It started as the C or Red... I don't understand why that would have ever changed. The whole 'gimmick' was based on the play on words with with C versus Sea(Red Sea).

Yep. It's actually one of the team's trademarked logos, no less.

that's why i went with Yelle. i didn't want to get Iginla, Phaneuf, or Kiprusoff as everyone and his dog has one of those jerseys, so i went with my favorite role player who the GM seems to love and will in all likelihood retire as a Flame. course then he has to go and be a nice guy and give Nolan his #, so my jersey is rendered "classic" regardless
but now having watched Nolan all year and loving the way he plays, i want to make his my next jersey purchase. if he does resign for next season then i'll have myself a pair of retro and modern #11's

obviously a former flame home is better than a non-flames jersey, but if all you have is a "leopold" from 04 with the stanley cup patch (i choke a little every time i see a flames jersey with it on it...so close, it stull hurts) on it...it might be time to move on...its obviously not 'lucky'. if you can afford playoff game tickets, you can afford a new jersey.

By the way, for clarification, I do not have a Bertuzzi Red Wings Jersey.
I proudly wear my Iginla 12 and my son wears his Kiprusoff 34... (Another reason for my handle)

8. No way man, My white Iginla Jersey is autographed, how is everyone going to know that I have an autographed jersey if I don't wear it.
7. My Black horse head Jersey cost way more than my $5 T-Shirt. I'm a bigger fan if I show everyone how much I paid to get it.
6. I got these playoff tickets given to me for free, why should I have to spend money on a new shirt.
5. I was born and raised in Calgary, therefore it's pretty obvious that my favorite team is the New York Rangers, and hey it's a hockey game what better time to pull out my blue shirt.
4. I've never watched a hockey game before, but my friend told me that it's really easy to get chicks to go out with you if you have playoff tickets. Of course I'll be GQ'd out in my bar clothes to impress her.
3. I'm a girl and I really like my pink Jersey.
2. I have to go from work to the game, and I want everyone around me to know how important I am. Besides my business suit cost $1000.
1. I'm cheering for San Jose
Wear RED

I'm with ya, brother... but I actually like the pink jerseys.
They're for a good cause (breast cancer) and chicks look hot in them.
(They're still not red though, and shouldn't be worn in the playoffs! Unless it's at the bar or something...)

I hear that. They won't even let me into the Dome without a $3000 suit.

They do, but they have cheap plastic Cs on them... but from what I hear, as soon as those are gone we'll get some with a real C.

I'll be wearing my Red RBK authentic tonight (in addition to my Flames t-shirt, wristband, belt buckle, socks, cowboy hat, and, yes, boxer shorts) and hope that others wear red too.
The only ones I'd probably feel a twinge of sympathy for are those who wear green since that would imply color blindness (people with Red-Green Color blindness can't discriminate between red and green as both colors would look the same to them). However, I'd still point out that the colors they're wearing aren't red, and would offer to take them down the the Fanattic to find something more suitable like a T-shirt. If the price was reasonable, I'd probably offer to pay for it myself (I have a soft spot for color blind people).
However, I have no sympathy whatsoever for those who wear stupid colors like yellow, blue or brown, etc. Wrong game (place?), buddy.
