Overall the officiating wasnt bad, but the penalty given to Babel near the end of the game was pretty soft. There was contact but it mostly looked like Babel tripped over the ball.

Hmmm, I saw the first leg and was pretty peeved at the Hleb non-call, but got over it.
After I watch this, I'm not so sure I will be nearly as forgiving. Wonder what the post game comments were like from Arsene...

What an amazing change in emotions. One moment in despair after three unmarked Arsenal players could have walked the ball into the net, then a penalty given at the other end and a goal. Incredible. I knew after the first leg that it was on the cards that Liverpool would end up getting a pen in the return leg, I just didn't realize how dramatic it would be.
Maybe it's just me but this is shaping up to be another destined Liverpool Euro Cup victory. Too many things going right for them.
YNWA.
edit: What a cracker by Torres and what a run by Walcott!

I should say though:
Babel >>> Fabregas.
Wow did Babel make him look like a pylon out there.
As for that penalty, it was definitely soft, but I think that all has to do with where the ref was. From the ref's perspective it looked like a clear foul and that Babel was pulled down, but from a better review angle it looks like Babel tripped on the ball.
As for the Hleb call, Kuyt even said that he made contact with him but Hleb grabbed his arm and went down. The ref was in a much better position to see that call.
Still, bad call on the ref's part, one of the few times its actually gone my way as a fan.

Are you up for three lucky, "the better team lost" wins in a run over English opposition? You just know it's likely going to happen! I'm not sure I can take a final in the Euro against the Mancs though. If we win, complete and utter ecstasy whereas a loss to that lot..........

Are you talking about the goal at the end??
Babel had just come on, Fabregas had been out there for the whole game.....Im sure fatigue played a major factor there. Right now, Im still taking Fabregas over Babel. Babel is gonna be sick, very very soon.

Yeah but he plays for Holland so you know something will go wrong eventually

I've watched the penalty incident on numerous occasions now and I don't think it was 'dodgy', 'soft' , or a 'phantom' penalty at all. Sure, it could have been denied but we've seen them given for less too. Febregas pulled on Babel before Toure did a dancing act around him. There was definite contact with the player and Wenger's whining is coming across as sour grapes now. However, the incident in the first leg was even more of a definite penalty than this one. That one wasn't awarded and likely should have been. No dispute there. Who knows what would have happened in the tie had it been given.
Water under the bridge now. Liverpool showed massive heart against a fantastic team and are going through.
Hope Arsenal gives it to Man U on Sunday.

as a neutral, that game was brilliant to watch.
Although the penalty was harsh, worse decisions are made every week.

What a header by Riise. Unbelievable. What a huge blow to Liverpool that is. They should have won by at least a couple with Torres having a couple of great chances. Chelsea have to be the huge favourites now.

What an awful way to end the game. Liverpool were the clearly better team, they took it Chelsea all game long but just couldnt close it out and then Riise with a bad mistake in injury time.

That was an awesome own goal, loving every minute of that. I love watching any of the 3 premier giants choke even if its against each other.

^I thought Liverpool played really well actually. It certainly wasn't a choke job. What Riise was thinking there is beyond me. I know he has a weak right foot but that should have been blasted into row Z. I thought the ref was terrible. 4 minutes added on for what? Drogba's diving?
Ah well, that's football. The Reds deserved a better fate but them's the breaks. Tough task ahead at a ground historically they have fared poorly at. I certainly wouldn't count Liverpool out yet though.

Not a good way to end it for Liverpool, they really dug themselves a hole with that one.
Man, it just hasnt been good for me lately. The late Liverpool breakdown, the Flames, and now I know Barca is going to let me down today.
Damn.

United hold out for a draw. Had they lost I probably would have turned alcoholic after last nights Flames game.
