1-0 United at the half. Got the valuable away goal.
Ronaldo scores again, Vidic off injured.
2-0 final, Rooney also scoring.
All but through to the next round.

Newcastle needs more Irish players, not less.

I couldn't disagree more. Given's career is likely over, as is Carr's. Duff has lost his pace and he is the highest paid winger outside of the big four. Specifically which Irish players would you like them to buy? I don't see anyone available who would be suitable for Newcaste's style of play with the exception of Steven Reid. Hunt, Doyle, Andy Reid, Dunne, Robbie Keane, none of the good Irish players would be made available by their respective clubs. I've heard rumours that the Magpies will offer Celtic twelve million for Aiden McGeady in the summer but although he has a huge upside, that would be an absolutely enormous risk.

Sorry Johnny - it was just a blindly nationalistic suggestion - not an actual recommendation. I will support the team with the most Irish players.
Come on Ireland!

Arsenal and Liverpool tie a 1 a piece.
Liverpool barely survived the onslaught in the second half highlighted by a blatant penalty in the box that wasn't called.

As much as I hate those dirty gunners, they certainly did have the run of play in that game.
Although, Liverpool emerge as the winners of that battle, heading home with an away goal in hand.

But survive they did, although I fully expected a pen to be given there! Meh, Reina would have saved it anyway. He's good at penalties.
Excellent result. Made up with that. Hope Rafa rests the likes of Torres and Gerrard this weekend.

Reading and Newcastle are tied with three apiece - Shane Long, Kevin Doyle, and Stephen Hunt represent the future; Given, Carr, and Duff are the past.

Alright people, this is it. Arsenal vs. Liverpool, deciding game. Somebody continues, Arsenal goes home.
Same deal for Chelsea. Although, Chelsea does have a reputation for showing up for big games and its not going to get bigger than this for them this season.
LIVERPOOL!!!

Ditto. Starts soon here. Work productivity will nosedive this afternoon.
I'm wearing my Torres jersey at work....
Now, if only Sami Hyypia could teach Anders Eriksson how to play defence!

Well Arsenal were completely hosed by the referees over two legs, how Liverpool escaped is criminal. Kuyt with a blatant haul down of Hleb cost the gunners in the first game, and Babel tripping over the ball today cost Arsenal their lives. Too bad officiating was the story, as they were awesome games to watch, though in the end the less deserving of the two teams are moving on.

Yes it was brutal officiating.
Clear penalty for Arsenal in the first leg denied.
Phantom penalty against Arsenal given with 5 minutes left in the second leg with Arsenal essentially leading by 1/2 a goal.
Maybe Arsene shouldn't have blasted the refs after the first leg cause they sure screwed him again in the 2nd leg. Refs have long memories.
