I ordered the same drums pads. Do they reduce the sound significantly? I live in a basement suite and have to refrain from going all out with the default pads.

Let us know about the pedal metals as well. Are they supposed to be better to play with? I know moving up to harder difficulties my problem is the bass pedal is so stiff compared to a real bass pedal and I find it hard to keep up with quick beats.

It can still get pretty loud but it's more of a low thud instead of the high tapping sound it usually makes. Pretty much like the video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-06ky...eature=related .

I put some colored felt over the gum stoppers. Makes them even more quite and looks better. Just get the felt with adhesive on the back, cut them out and stick them on. You are only out $5 more but you can hear the songs even better.

Great idea...I'm assuming a craft store like Michael's will have it?

Wal-mart actually had everything but the Yellow felt. Had to find that at a craft store.

Here's the DLC for 03/25...Boston pack: $2 each or all for $12

“More Than a Feeling” (Master)
“Peace of Mind” (Master)
“Smokin’” (Master)
“Rock & Roll Band” (Master)
“Something About You” (Master)
“Hitch a Ride” (Master)
Anybody notice the songs aren't available yet on the PS3? I went to download the Boston pack last night and it wasn't out yet.

Good to know. I got the Boston pack downloaded so I'm ready to rock out on the weekend now.

Thanks.

What is the deal with cross-compatibility? Can GH3/Rockband guitars work on either one? Or am I screwed for PS3?

as far as I know, GH3 360 guitars are compatible with Rock Band, but Rock Band guitars are not compatible with GH3. I don't think PS3 ones have any cross-compatibility, but if you already have a GH3 guitar and are buying Rock Band, it cant hurt to try.

Nope. We're are currently screwed for the PS3. I bought both thinking I could use the GH3 guitar for the bass guitar. I ended up returning GH3 because it was not compatible with Rockband.

Waiting for the Nyko Frontman that is compatible with both RB and GH3 on the PS3.

Does anyone know what the requirements are for five gold stars on a song? I got them on Dani California on Expert drums last night but I didn't get 100%.

Gold stars isn't for 100%, but rather for an exceptionally high score. Depending on how (in)efficiently you use star power, it's possible to get gold stars without 100% accuracy and it's also possible to get 100% accuracy and not get gold stars (it happened to me once).

Also note that gold stars are only possible if every band member is playing on Expert. I found a list at gamefaqs.com that had a cutoff for all the songs included with the game, but it didn't have a full list for the DLC.

And speaking of DLC, "Still Alive" by Jonathan Coulton and performed by GladOS (aka the ending song from Portal) will be available tomorrow for free. It's exclusive to the Xbox 360 for two weeks, though, so PS3 players have a while to wait yet before they can run out of cake.

I've heard a nasty rumor that Activision will be patching GHIII to ensure it does not work with any 3rd party guitar.

"Still Alive" is available today, I've downloaded and played it already. Don't know why it's out early.

On the issue of my broken foot pedal and no return shipping label... after a few emails back and forth to EA, they said to just call them.
I called them on the weekend expecting to be on hold for a half hour, but i managed to talk to a rep right away (surprise #1). Then the rep said that she would eliminate the 120 dollar hold on my credit card and I could keep my snapped pedal (surprise #2).
So now maybe I'll get the pedal metal and keep the new pedal as a backup. Well done EA on making things right!

Just wanted to quickly mention that the PlayStation Store is down for upgrades, which means that there will be no new download content until it gets re-launched.

Also wanted to mention that I too have had a good experience with EA's support. I sent in a request to get a new guitar since the one we received didn't rock out all the time. They accidentally screwed up the item and sent me a microphone instead. When I sent them a message about this mistake they apologized, told me the guitar was on the way and that I didn't have to return the old guitar.

Anyone else having trouble with 16th notes on fast songs not being picked up correctly by the drums? Mine are absolutely brutal at picking up stuff that fast, and it's pretty annoying.

I'm just wondering if it's just my "drums" or is it a problem with the game?

Check this pedal out http://omegapedal.com/
Looks nice and it's getting good reviews. I think I'll order it once the semester is over.

Pretty cool, I like the twin pedal thing, very necessary at some points.
