Default The Mars Volta - May 21

I'm pretty freaking excited about this (I'll be going to the Vancouver show on the 24th). This might be my favourite group. Just thought I'd post this in case there were any Volta fans who hadn't heard. There must be some!?

I should also give some love to another CPer, chid. Without her, I wouldn't know about this presale.

7pm, MacEwan Hall at the U of C.

The presale starts THIS MORNING at 10am. Password: GOLIATH

YES!!!

Mars Volta = Every instrument known to man played all at the same time.

Got my tix. Also got them for the Hives, which I'm way excited for. May is a good month! When are they announcing the Virgin Festival lineup?

Saw them live when they opened for System of a Down a couple years ago. Totally, not my thing. Just a whole bunch of noise with no rhyme or reason to it. I didn't dig it, I actually had to leave and go outside for a bit. Totally not my thing.

That was in a big stadium though, right?

I have friends who are die-hard fans of TMV who attended these shows (when they toured opening for RCHP, as well as SOAD). They said the sound was not good in the least. Maybe something to do with opening for a band in a huge, half-empty arena. Doesn't sound conducive to the type of music they play and the chaotic arrangements of all those instruments.

I heard the exact same thing from my buddy who is also a die-hard Volta fan. I'm a pretty big fan myself. Mac Hall should be a better venue for them.
