City of a million people, man. At least people helped - we're not that jaded yet. Or are you in Vancouver?

I was at the 7/11 in the Triwood area (Brentwood?) and a truck came screaming around the corner from whatever street onto Northmount Drive. Some poor woman rolls out of the passenger side of the truck and summersaults into the parking lot. She's topless. Truck stops, backs up, woman gets in, trucks peels away. The whole thing lasted 5 seconds. This was about 5 years ago and me and my friends still bring it up when we're drinking.

I don't know why I brought this up.

I don't know why you brought it up either but thanks for sharing. Must have been quite a sight.

As for the whole "what is with this city..." there was a story on the news tonight about a couple somewhat down-and-out fellows being beaten senseless lately by groups of "men".

What kind of a worthless, pathetic candyass do you have to be to drive around at night with your pals and jump out of the car to beat on some guy you've never even seen before? Man I hope they catch one of these losers. Any dickhead who would do something like that is going to rat out his friends before he's put in the back of the car.

That being said, there was a story recently that crime in general is lower now than it's been in 25 years, but still, this kind of stuff is bad news.

Reminds me of a strange spectacle I once witnessed. Back in high school, my friend's mom was the weekend cleaner for Davie's Electric downtown on 11th & 11th. We used to do the job for her as she'd give us just enough money to buy a pack of smokes and a doobie or two.
So one day (after witnessing a major car accident on Crowchild) we pulled into the parking lot at Davies and smoked the doob. While we were puffing away, four cars pulled into the parking lot simultaneously, the drivers jumped out, looked around, and popped their trunks.
Next thing I know, they're all unloading duffelbags onto the ground. Then they all picked up a different pile than they unloaded, shoved them into their trunks, jumped into their cars and friggin bailed.
It happened in less than a minute. No "Hey, bud, how's it going" or "Well, see ya later!"... Strictly business.
Weird.

Saw a guy playing chicken with the C-Train once on the corner of 7th avenue and 8th street during Stampede from where I worked.

He lost.

I once witnessed a beaten up station wagon ram-rob a pizza-joint with a plate glass window in the front. Luckily this was at 7am so the pizza place was empty and no one was hurt. Bizarrely, the occupants of the car took whatever they wanted to take, then simply ran off on foot.

Of course... this was in Dartmouth Nova Scotia... so why was I surprised...

I once broke into my friend's house (drunk) and passed out on her couch. In the morning we were equally surprised to find me there.

HAHAHA!!! Love it. One time I was in Oosoyoos with a couple of friends. It was around midnight and we had a backpack full of beer and an ounce of weed on us. We were walking down the beach when we spotted foot patrol cops approaching, so we threw the backpack on the roof of a utility shed (right there on the beach) along with the ziploc full of weed.

The cops jacked us, took our ID, accused us of being drunk and/or stoned and asked us where we hid our stash. We were standing right beside the shed and it was pretty difficult to hold in the laughter.
As they were walking away, my buddy snatched the bag of weed off the roof and started rolling a joint right behind their backs.
Oh, the days of being a young punk...
