Calgary Bars
So me and my buddy are coming down to Calgary tomorrow for the flames/oilers game and we need some suggestions of bars to head to after the game. We are staying at Hotel Arts which is supposedly really close to the dome. So where is a good place to go that is close to the dome and this hotel? Both 20 years old and just want a good place to party after the game.

I recommend 1410 on 17th ave. It's not a club, but they get a DJ on weekends, they have a fantastic drought selection, the waitresses are hot, and the place attracts good-looking girls. It's kind of the best of both worlds (pub being the other 'world').
Not sure what the club scene is like so much anymore in this city, but I imagine the best of them are mostly 16-18 year old girls and ######y dudes.

I've been to the cecil to party. How a night goes from drinking a 'cecil' martini at vicious circle, to the piss covered sidewalk outside the cecil hotel boggles the mind...after i saw a pair of pants and underwear in the corner of the bathroom, i bolted...I didn't care how bombed I was...some things are wrong.
As per the topic, I would suggest just taking a walk down 17th...or the drum and monkey/Bamboo on 1st street is good if you just want a place to drink some beers and chill.

Melrose is the heart of the Red Mile...but 17th ave has a ton of bars, so you'd be safe there.
Tequila-Younger Crowd-top 40
Snatch-Older rock crowd
Back Alley-Token scuzzy rock bar
Coyotes-More silicon then any man can handle

If you exit the dome and follow the crowd toward the LRT, you'll be at 17th ave. The main 'strip' starts a few blocks down, so you've got to walk about 10 minutes. Once on 17th, just pick a place. There are quite a few.
Being 20, you may want to dress decently as bars around here are quick to decline entry to people they don't deem as their preferred demographic.
I went for a couple of beers last night at the aforementioned 1410. I will echo the comments made by my fellow member of 'The Nine' that the waitresses are easy on the eyes, as are alot of the patrons. It's a fairly small place, though, and it's all the way at the other end of 17th (at 14th street, and you're coming from -2 street).
I've never heard of your hotel, but hailing a cab on 17th isn't too tough. It'd be a cheap ride back to your hotel (less than $10), if the hotel is close to the dome.

I do believe that 1410 is owned or managed by an Oilers fan. That was a while ago, so I'm not sure.

The Yardhouse on 17th. Great post-game pub. I go there after almost every game that I attend.

I know there seems to be some Greaser fans in 1410 on game nights, but never heard that one of the managers/owners was an Oilers fan...I have to give the thumbs up toi 1410 for sure...it's my local pub. Same folks own Classic Jacks sever blocks closer to the Dome.

What do you like?
It runs the gamut from live band bars, Irish and English pubs, martini lounges, trendy pubs/bars (don't know what else to call Melrose or places like the Yardhouse) restaurant/lounges tapas bars, sports bars, night clubs, dance clubs, underground clubs, afterhours clubs, biker pits, themed bars... etc etc etc.
Name the genre or genres you want, or feel you are looking for, and I can point you in the right direction

As well as being a visible minority. But that usually only goes for bars that also double as clubs.

Hotel Arts? Two of the best restaurants in the city are right there - Raw Bar And Saint Germain. Raw Bar has a great cocktail menu.

On 17th, I always liked the The Ship & Anchor. The Pointe was a great dive, but sadly closed now. The Republik is re-opened. I liked the old M - can't say what the new M is like. Manies is good for late night greek food.
