Default Rock Band for Wii coming in June

I thought this merited a separate thread from the existing Rock Band thread.

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/24/ro...ions-answered/

Sadly, it doesn't seem to be up to snuff - no downloadable songs, and it seems no ability for online play.

Damn, I hope that article is somehow wrong... sounds like Rock Band for Wii will be a serious dud.

I thought Rock Band in general kind of dropped the ball and while the idea was superior to Guitar Hero, the implementation was quite inferior. Looks like Guitar Hero Wii will end up being grossly superior to Rock Band Wii.

What makes you think that GHIII will be superior to Rock Band on the Wii? Neither have downloadable content. At best, you could say that GHIII stands out from Rock Band based on its limited online play. I haven't found that limited online functionality to be all that awesome, in my own experience.

So is it the price? The number of songs? The non-compatibility between peripherals?

ffs, i was so pumped about rock band coming to the Wii.

No downloadable content though?
Can't use the GH3 guitar(vastly superior)?

Not gonna waste the money, too bad. Maybe they'll do it up right in the future.

I'll wait for the reviews but even if it is inferior to other systems versions, it should still be fun...

As far as I know (vague recollection from other websites) the Wii version is going to be approximately the same as the version that was found on the PS2, which had an extremely pared down feature set from what was on PS3 and 360. Even with the smaller feature set it is probably still a really good time jamming with friends.

Unfortunately the drums are a glaring white plastic, which I think is terrible.

I just meant the gameplay in general. In Rock Band (360), there's a lot of repetition and the career mode just isn't smooth. I think GHIII (360) is a better game, though Rock Band has more than just a guitar and should be better because of the four player ability. Don't get me wrong, Rock Band is an awesome game... but its a matter of expectation... I'd say both games are probably 9/10... but Rock Band felt like it should have been a slam dunk 10, learning from GH and blowing it out of the water, and it really didn't (at least to me).

But for GH3 v. Rock Band for the Wii... several things stick out... yes, limited online v. no online, a smoother career mode, more customization, lots of unlockable content, and I dunno, it just seems like the better game when it really shouldn't be. It seems GH3 for the Wii was everything they could legitimately toss into it (aside from DLC, but that might change) where Rock Band is looking like a watered down, junkier version... much like FIFA 08 wii v. FIFA 08 360, PS3, PC and even PS2.
