Default Bloody shame

I managed to watch the final episode of Jericho tonight, a solid show with a excellent premise, well acted characters and a story line that didn't have to end.

Its a shame when shows like this get passed over because idiot sue ellen would rather watch reality T.V.

RIP Jericho.

I haven't watched it yet.....but from what people are telling me is that it progressively got better in its final episodes.

Too bad indeed.

Is it worth picking up on DVD? I've not seen an episode either.

Tonights final was excellent and would have set up a pretty incredible story arch for next year.

Definitely be buying this when it comes out on DVD.

I think it is.

The first season was very good and simple. The second season was more about exposing the players behind the story.

As is usually the case when shows get cancelled the public is to blame, not the networks.

The public has generally bad taste in TV. They don't watch good shows. They watch bad shows.

This show was given a lot of chances. Not enough people watched it.

Indeed. The public managed to get a second season out of this show. People didn't respond.

My wife and I were looking for stuff to watch before the game tonight and couldn't believe that absolute shat that is passing for primetime 'entertainment' and how it dominated the network lineups tonight. Dancing With The Stars and American Idol for 2 solid hours each? Big Brother 9? WTF? I just don't get the draw I really don't. And Fox pisses me off because they do their idiotic Idol BS (I firmly believe most of those 'auditions' are staged) in the time slot of their most popular and best show, House. What kind of idiot does that?

Ugh.

And don't even get me started on Firefly.

I wouldn't say that the public watches bad shows, as good and bad are different to different types based on perception. I would say though that in general with a few exceptions, that the public likes simple shows. Reality TV fits the bill while alot of other shows with complex storylines are passed over.

I find all these save the show petitions rather amusing, you shouldn't be appealing to the network to save a show, you should be appealing to the rest of the stupid public to get those viewership numbers up. Whether a show lives or dies is a function of whether the network thinks they can put a show which generates more viewers in a better demographic then the show in the time slot at the time. If they do, no amount of peanuts, nerf footballs etc is going to save the show.

After a friend of mine recommended this show to me, I gave it a chance and sat through 6 episodes. My God, was this show ever boring and tiresome. Long lost son of an old school mayor returns and brings the whole small town together. Yawn. I heard the show got better in later episodes, but from what I saw Jericho doesn't hold a candle to shows like Lost, Prison Break or Dexter.

I watched the first season and then the first episode of this season and it didn't interest me at all, so I didn't watch the rest of this years episodes. I guess you're telling me I should watch the rest of them?

I really enjoyed both seasons. Was glad they were able to come back and "wrap things up".

Same could be said for Journeyman. That show was absolutely solid and nobody gave it a good chance.

This is the same thing that happened with Sports Night. Outstanding, well-written show with an amazing cast... won awards and had heaps of critical success...

Unfortunately, it was too smart and too fast for average viewers and was canceled after its second season.

Dunno, i gave it a chance, and it was absolutely horrid. I think the only reason it lasted as long as it did was the writers strike.

Yup excellent point. And to be clear I shouldn't have really said the public likes bad shows....bit of a hyperbole to make a point. The general public likes as you say - simple shows.

Started off pretty mediocre but I can tell you it did improve more and more as it went along. Wasn't groundbreaking in the least but it was pretty enjoyable.

The last episode was actually a very strong series finale.
