Ah, my old stomping grounds. It was great back in the 90's, no clue since then though
I don't think much has changed, so I give it two thumbs up

I lived in that area for a good 18 years before moving last summer, originally in Woodbine then to Woodlands. I really love that area although it's a pain to get to the University (Glenmore Trail will forever be my enemy).

Oh, no you DID-NT!

Woodbine was alright. But not as fun of an area to hang out in. And all the slow kids came out of that neighborhood. We all went to the asbestos school that's now pavement at Glenmore and Elbow

Hoodbine is only slightly better.. Theres really nothing wrong with those neighbourhoods, even Cedarbrae is ok. The only shady neightbourhood in the area is Southwood, and its further down Anderson and a left on Elbow drive.

I live in Woodbine.

I also know a lot of people in Woodlands.

Great area, decently good access to everything. A suburb I guess, but really a good location. Many choices for everything (food, stores, etc).

The only drawback is that if you have to get to the NW part of town it's going to take forever if there is any traffic whatsoever. Other areas of town are pretty good to get to.

I really like this area!
Edit: Jude kinda beat me to the punch RE: driving time

Woodbine and Woodlands are for all intents and purposes one big community, which is why there is only one community centre between the two.

Its a blend of entry-level homes, mid-range, high-end and multi, multi million dollar homes. Its a great community.

I'm in Woodbine myself, however I walk my dog through Woodlands quite often. As other have stated, the two communities could really be considered one, even though they aren't. I've come across some great houses in Woodlands, depending on what your preference is. You can find everything from cookie-cutter pink stucco places, to lots of character older places. As for getting to places, it is pretty good. You're close to Shawnessy for big box shopping, pretty close to Chinook mall, and very close to South Centre. My wife and I have already decided that when we move into our next home, we're going to stay in Woodbine/Woodlands. All in all, I've enjoyed my time in Woodbine so far, and I don't think Woodlands would be too different.

I wouldn't know about that, but when I first moved into our previous house there used to be a multitude of rabbits running around the undeveloped areas. Never could catch one of those buggers.

There weren't any street lights on 24th street by the husky either (used to be a macs) so you could imagine the risk we would have to take get at that candy...playing in traffic..yeah...good times .

Hasn't really been mentioned before but you also have soccer fields on west/east 24th (behind the Safeway), quite a few playgrounds and of course, Fish Creek just a little stroll/drive away.

Grew up in Woodlands. Lived in Woodbine for some time too. Both are great communities however we all know Woodlands is better.

The only complaint I ever had about either community was the transportation (ie 14th Street and Glenmore bottleneck every morning). I suppose the lack of a junior high might also be an issue. Come to think of it where do Woodlands Junior High kids go now that Milton got nuked?

Woodman/Panabaker.

Catholic kids went to...and continue to go to St. Stephen.

or St. Cyril if they wanted to... "Woodcreek" wasn't technically suppose to feed there, but more than a few ended up there.

I don't think it is... I went there for Shop/Home Ec. during my St. Stephen's years, but that was about 10 years ago now.

Typically, the St. Jude (Woodbine/Woodlands) kids were supposed to go to St. Stephens with the Midnapore/Canyon Meadows/Southwood/Shawnessy kids, and St. Cyril was the feeder for Palliser, Braeside, Oakridge, Cedarbrae, Pump Hill and Bayview (or something like that).
