I searched this and came back with nothing, so hopefully this isn't a fata. A fully intact duck-billed dinosaur has been discovered in North Dakota, apparently even with it's skin intact! Sadly, there are no pictures, as its still being dug out. I can't wait to see this thing!

It's not really mummified, it's fossilized. I hate it when the media thinks all these words are interchangable! The skin texture is there but it's not the original material (as in mummification which is usually preservative dessication combined with some kind of anerobic environment). The skin is all replaced by minerals. It's fossilized.

I think I would like that job though.

Its a shame, one of the things on my bucket list is to eat a Dinosaur.

Why not just feast on Komodo Dragon or Crocodile? What the heck, when you eat KFC you are eating dino relative anyway.

Well, it would seem that the dinosaur probably had to be naturally mummified first, before the fossilization took place. Fossilization takes ages and ages (thousands...millions of years, unless you're a Christian fundamentalist) whereas decomposition will normally destroy the soft tissue in short order. So, while the reporters might legitimately be completely clueless, it's not too far off to call it a mummified dinosaur, which was subsequently fossilized.

Its not the same. I mean sure Croc or Komodo dragon sounds mighty tasty, but eating a massive Dinosaur is something that can be talked about for the rest of your life.

I'd also like a side order of Big Foot Steak, with a plate of Messanger Pigeon eggs on the side, all grilled on moon rocks.

I must preface this with I didn't read the article.

There was a documentary about this not to long ago and they beleived there was a chance parts of the animal were mummified including the organs. The also ran it through a CT scan that showed a croc curled up against its belly.

So really it should be called a fossilized mummified dinosaur. The editor probably saw that and eliminated the "redundancy".

Just a guess, but I think the captain wants to go Fred Flintstone and grab himself a slab of Bronto Ribs that will tilt his H4 at the drive through window...
