You know that drain in the middle of the floor in the basement, right by the hot water tank and washer/dryer. Would I be able to put a temporary shower above that for a week or so?

without know how you would get the water to fall down on you, yes you could. Its just like any other drain, so getting water down it is no problem.

I'd check to make sure it drains first. I've heard many a story in older houses of people screwing with the drains so when the next owner comes along they are in for a surprise.

So yeah theoretically I don't see why you couldn't if you made a make shift shower.

You're starting a butcher shop in your basement and were wondering if you could just hose 'er down?

close, I was thinking trick pad.

Honestly, I am going to rip out my bathtub and replace it. It is the only shower/bathtub in the house. The way these things go for me, is it will take longer than a day to do it, because nothing goes as planned. Probably have to rip out some rotted stuff and reframe etc. So I'm going to need to set something up for the wife and kid to have a shower. I can do it at work.
I'm just going to route some hoses from the washer into a showerhead, and nail up some vapor barrier plastic I have, over top of the drain.
Should be OK for a couple of days, I would think.

atop being a sissy and hook up your garden hose. Option 2 could be a crate of wetnaps.

That wasnt nearly as entertaining as what I imagined.

Kick the kid out the door and flick on the sprinklers.

Kids are tough, he/she will be okay.

Tell them it builds character.

Throw up a tent outside and pretend you are all camping... don't shower to make it authentic.

Thats what happens after he really screws up and blows a hole through his wall.

Thats when he rolls some of these beauties out:

- Come on kids, we're going camping!

- Its only -20, dont worry it'll be fun.

- Frostbite? No, thats not frostbite thats......growing up and being a man and not complaining every time you get frostbite, now silence you!
