I'm watching Mr. Smith Goes to Washington right now. All the old hitchcock films are great, The Rear Window is one of my all time favorites.

My must watch list would include:
The Godfather ( I and II, DO NOT WATCH III)
One Flew Over the ####oo's Nest
Planet of the Apes
Ben Hur
Spartacus (Stanley Kubrick)
The Ten Commandments
Battle of the Bulge
Midway
Once Upon A Time in America (really good)
Scarface
Lawrence of Arabia (classic)
Westworld (I'm a huge Yul Brynner fan)
Taxi Driver
The Party (with Peter Sellers, one of the greatest comedies of all time)
I'm sure I'll have more later.
Edit: Didn't take me long to think of more.
The Deer Hunter
Platoon
2001: A Space Odyssey (Kubrick)
Full Metal Jacket (Kubrick)
A Clockwork Orange (Kubrick)
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (Kubrick)
Apocalypse Now (based on Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Raging Bull
Blade Runner
That'll keep ya busy for a month or two.
One last one. If you like war films rent Band of Brothers. Actually a mini series consisting of 10 parts. Produced by Tom Hanks, one or two were even writen by him. One of the best war films/shows I've ever seen.

yeah, part three was so far below the first two it's not funny. The first two are cinematic gold. The third was very mediocre.
