I have 50 watt tube... and it is plenty loud I dont even turn it up all the way... this is playing small clubs not having my amp mic'ed
IMO 50 watt tube is louder then 100W ss
Also comparing 50 watt tube to 100 watt tube you can barley notice a huge difference... its only like 2 dB difference... just because you double the watts it doesnt double the sound output...
here is a GREAT thread to read on a guitar forum

To put this into perspective a 100W amp is ten times more powerful, electrically, than a 10W amp, but only twice as loud (as a rule of thumb).

You'll be loud enough in my opinion.
I can keep up with drums and bass on 30W, but we were playing in a very small space so I kicked it up to 60W.
Line out is great if you ever played a show. I also like Peavy amps, used to have two Studio Pro 112's (which can also compete with drums depending on your scene)

I actually just sold a Studio Pro while here because I don't want to pay to have it shipped home...besides selling stuff in the north is EASY and you get top dollar. I got $400 for my Studio Pro!
Thanks for the advice though guys, been a great help.

If you are worried about the loudness of the Valveking go with the 212... You can probally blow over a midget with that

A new company called Blackheart have some interesting looking amps that I cant wait to try out.

Wow!!! That video they have on there is amazing and hilarious. This looks like a really fun company. That video is everything I've ever wanted in playing guitar

What can you tell me about pickups?
I want to put in a humbucker at the bridge(something that will scream) and something less wussy than whats given at the neck.

If you still want to stick with the Marshall amp and want something that is cool and kooky you could get a Full Stack Jr.
Or for a good general you could get a Marshall TSL602
Its a combo amp so you wouldn't have to lug around the head and the cab. Granted I only play bass so i'm just used to dealing with bass amplification but every Marshall amp i have heard sounds great.

Think of it like the difference between listening to a CD and listening to an LP on a decent system. The CD just lacks that ... special something ... that the vinyl has.
I can't believe no-one's mentioned the Fender Deluxe. A fantastic-sounding amp for it's price (a new one will run you about $700-$800). I've played in numerous live settings with guitarists playing through these amps and love their tone and clarity.

What kind of amp do you have? New pickups with a crap amp is pretty much the most pointless thing you can do...
