FS: Custom, Extremely High-End PC - $1500.00 (Price drop- $1200)
Well... This is a tough one. I built this PC in January of this year to replace the Dell I had bought the year before. This is an extremely high-end machine, so if you're looking for something cheap to surf the internet on, this probably isn't for you. I love this machine, but I'm being dragged into the laptop world. Work, girlfriend and all that.
Anyway...
Specs- Case: Rare, limited edition, 100% aluminum, "Ferrari Yellow" mid-size tower. Seeing this case is what actually inspired me to build this PC. (see pics!)
- Power: Corsair 520W modular power supply with triple +12v rails
- Motherboard: ASUS P5K with HD Audio, Gigabit Lan, Firewire, PCI-E x16, 4 x 3GB/s SATA II, 1 x 3GB/s eSATA and built-in hardware RAID - even supports the the 45nm intel processors
- Processor: Intel 64bit Core2 Quad 6700 (Quad Core - 4 x 2.66GHz)
- RAM: 4GB PC6400, DDR2 800Mhz
- Video: eVGA GeForce 8800 GT-SC 512MB
- Audio: Creative Labs X-Fi Extreme Gamer 24bit sound card
- System Drive: 1 x 150GB 10,000 RPM Western Digital Raptor (this is a lightning-fast hard drive, it was even rated faster than a SCSI drive)
- Storage Drive: 1 x 500GB 7200 RPM Western Digital Caviar
- DVD Drive: 1 x 20x Dual Layer DVD Burner (SATA)
- Operating System: None (although arrangements can be made)
Altogether, I spent about $2200.00 building this beast. The processor alone cost me $670.00! Not to mention the case that cost me $240.00 (but worth it).
I'm asking for $1200.00 and I'll even throw in my $180 Logitech 5.1 speakers!

Yeah, that is my feeling as well. But the rest of the specs are exactly like I would want it - quality components. This is a good deal.
What are you using to cool the proc?

The retail fan that came with the processor.
Also, you should see the inside of the case: everything is tied down kept out of the way... it looks almost like all the components are wireless. The first step to proper air flow, is not restricting that air flow with cables and wires.
As for the yellow thing... It's Ferrari Yellow!!
(Seriously, though, even if the yellow isn't liked it's still a hell of a deal!)

Wow, that really is a great deal. People quit whining about the color, for the $$ you save, just get yourself a new case!
If I hadn't just built myself an almost identical machine I'd be very interested. You'd probably get a lot more if you just parted it out...
ETA: If I were you I'd see what that CPU is going for on ebay. That is going to hold your sale back. Sell the CPU separately, put in something less bleeding edge and drop the price by a couple bills.

True... Or, since I'm selling it for $700.00 less than what it cost me to build, one could look at like they're paying full price for everything else, but getting a $700.00 processor for free.
When you add in the fact that I am also including a $180 set of THX certified, 5.1 Logitech computer speakers for free... it's a pretty crazy deal.

Actually, I just thought of something... If the yellow case is an issue with anyone wanting to buy this PC, I may have the answer:
I will help you pick out a case that 1) you like and 2) will work with the components, and then I will take everything out of my case and install it in your case... and I'll take $100.00 of the price of the PC.
Considering you can buy a new case for under $100.00 bucks and it will take me about 2 hours of my own personal time to do the transfer, I think this is a pretty good offer.
So...
Option 1
- Buy it as is: $1500.00
Option 2
- Let me help you pick a new case (you buy the new case)
- Let me transfer everything to the new case
- You buy the PC (in your chosen case) for $1400.00
...and with either option, you still get the $180.00 THX certified 5.1 speaker system for free!

I have a few people kicking the tires, but still no commitment...
What's the concern? Is it the price or the case?
I know 1500 is a lot of cash, but I literally just spent 2200 building this less than two months ago... I'm already taking a 700.00 hit here, dropping the price any less will be pretty tough to swallow.
I've already offered a pretty fair solution for the case...
Anyway, feel free to let me know any of your concerns. I'm happy to answer any questions!

Personally I'm just not in a position to buy right now. It is exactly like a machine I have been spec'ing out myself, and it is tempting, but I won't be in a position to pull the trigger for a few months.
But it is a great price, you've got that right.

It is a crazy deal. But I'll bet you'll find the market for a machine with a $700 processor is extremely small. You could (should) get $500 for it on ebay. I'd do that and pickup a E6750 for $200 and sell the machine for $1200. It'd be an easier sell and you'd get exactly the same coin.

Well, to be honest... it's a little too powerful for me. I've been looking at upgrading my pc (2 years old) but just don't have the cash to commit to a full blown top of the line one. If my tax return was a little larger, this would be sold already.

I've tried to sell full built PC's before and didn't do to well. I've then sold each part separately on ebay and done better than I thought. I'd suggest looking on ebay and seeing what each part goes for. I'd imagine you'd come close to - or surpass what you're asking for.
Also, one question, I priced out this PC on memoryexpress. Comes to $2,224.55 different case, etc. But the Processor is listed as costing $1,149.95??????

Memory Express doesn't have the cheapest prices and their website is often inaccurate or not updated. The processor is only $639. I priced out this computer myself and got a total of ~$1750 (including the speakers) not including taxes, shipping, or labor. Some of those parts have gone down in price quite a bit since January. The nature of the computer beast. You still get a great deal.
But my recommendation is also to part it out individually, especially the processor and try that.

Where?
And where did you price it out?
Yeah, memoryexpress isn't the cheapest - but it's about a 5 minute walk.

Sorry, $629 I mean. That's not too bad if the OP bought it for $670 in January.
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...ufacture=Intel
Unfortunately, high-end CPUs drop in market value quite quickly. I just checked ebay and in the last week, this CPU went for $350-$450. I still think the OP can recoup most of his money selling his other parts though individually but if somebody wants to buy the whole thing on CP, they are still getting an amazing deal and saving a few hundred dollars.
Let's not speculate on the value of this computer anymore, it's thread-crapping when it is a honest great deal already.

Oh I know, it's a great PC, and a good deal! I was just shocked that memexpress listed the CPU for the price i mentioned and was asking if that was the same CPU.

Thanks for the comments, guys. There's some really good input here...
One thing to mention is that I bought the retail box processor, not the OEM one. I think tigerdirect.ca has the retail box listed for 709.99 right now, but I realize they're not the best price around.
Anyway, I've been silently reading these posts and putting some thought into everything. I like the concept of parting everything out individually, but I don't have an ebay account, and trying to sell this stuff with 0 feedback rating would be pointless. Also, I need to switch to a laptop asap and, since I put so much into building this PC, I literally have to rely on selling this first before I can afford the switch.
So, having said all of that, and having taken everything into consideration... I've decided to lower the sale price to $1200.00 (and it still includes the speakers).
It sucks to have to take as much of a loss as I am on this but, ultimately, I should have been a little smarter in January and just bought a laptop in the first place.
Thanks again!

I'm planning on buying a desktop at some point in the near future, but I need to find a new job and get my own apartment first. Until then, I'm using my 4.5 year old laptop.
If it's still around once I've got those things in place, you might have a buyer.
