Very important correction, thanks.

Have you ever tried snus? I have, being we cant buy copey or redman in england, and i have gotta tell you. Snus, is the grossest thing ive ever seen. Its just terrible. tastes and smells like fish. i refuse to do it now, or be around anyone doing it.

ill take copey or redman over that anyday, but saying that, if your intresed in ordering some, i think it can be found at www.skoal.net

Champix, eh? I wish I could only smoke when there's an occasion. I like smoking, but I don't like the health issues and the cost. If I could shave it down to a pack a week I'd never quit. But I can't, so I'll probably have to quit totally.
Maybe I'll do that. Maybe for my 30th b-day which happens this year. It'd be like an acknowledgment of growing up or something.

I felt the same way for years and finally just quit in September (the patch) after about 10 attempts. The real help for me this time was all the bars being non-smoking. Really makes things a whole lot easier when you're not surrounded by it every time you go out for a pint.

I was all prepared to quit completely when I graduated University, but then I went travelling and that plan fell apart. New Zealand and Australia are generally smoke-free in most public places, but when you're on a beach or on a back country tramp, smokes are just a natural way to pass the time, especially if you're chillaxin' with your mates looking over a horizon.

Worst place to quit? Japan. You can smoke EVERYWHERE, and because it's such close quarters and tight spaces, second-hand smoke inhalation goes unsaid. This is in addition to other factors, such as cigarettes being available for $2 in vending machines.

Although in Japan, one of the best things to see are the smoking 'pit' areas they have on the streets, which encourage you to through your butt in the ashtray. They try and use English, and it's a pretty bad translation and actually quite poetic. My favorite was "The butt whisks away in the wind, lost in the shadows of the city." Priceless!

you can smoke everywhere in Switzerland as well. When I was there, I was there for a sad reason... My grandfather was in the hospital (and ultimately died), so my grandmother and uncle were there as well. They don't smoke and look down upon it pretty badly, so it sucked that I couldn't even take advantage of it at all.

Strange footnote to that little story (totally unrelated to this thread). My mothers side of the family is from Switzerland. they moved to Canada 50 years ago. My grandfather was born in Zurich and was about 30 when he transplanted the family to Canada. My grandparents are very well off after a life of hard work, so they frequently travelled. Switzerland, being their homeland, was a place they visited often.
It was almost poetic that on his final trip to Switzerland, my grandfather fell ill and ended up in a hospital in Uster the night before they were to return home.
Uster is to Zurich what Airdrie is to Calgary.
He ended up dying less than 50 km from where he was born after moving away for 50 years and travelling a good portion of the world.
It was obviously a sad time for the family, but that sort of eased it.

This story reminds me of another cool thing that happened to my family. Maybe I'll start a thread about it.
