He could also ask about Chantix. It's new and not an antidepressant like Zyban.

Smoked for ~ 6 yrs, started when I was 12, and also had asthma as a kid. Smart I know.

Quit when I couldn't take a regular shift in hockey without hacking on the bench..

I'd virtually quit chew for 3 or 4 months there for a while, but I kinda relapsed here lately...out at a party and needed some kind of buzz as I wasn't drinking, so tossed some Redman in, and then realized how much I missed it...so unfortunately I'm back on that train...

Smoking...not so much. Used to have cigars and whatever you want to call Captain Blacks quite regularly at parties, but I could really start to feel it in my lungs. I've quit smoking pretty much altogether

Anybody know if they sell Snus in Calgary? It's Swedish tobacco in a sort of tea bag for your mouth that is steamed instead of burnt and toasted so it doesn't generate the carcinogens that normal tobacco or chewing tobacco does. I'm interested in looking for some.

I know Du Maurier just came out with something like that recently...they were just testing it I think though so I'm not sure if it's out everywhere or what...

Pack a day for about 10 years now. Used to chew in HS when I still needed my lungs for football, but wont go near the stuff now. Same with cigars, seem to make me nauseous

edit: Know many people who have had amazing results with Ciantix. I believe it basically blocks your nicotine receptors. Old brother in law used it for the regular 6 week cycle and hasnt even had the urge to smoke in a few years.

No smoking for me. I've had probably had half a pack over my whole life. Hated everyone of those smokes.

A little here and there, sheesha (sp?) and cubans mostly. Works out to be about 1 every 1-2 month, which is nothing.

I'm a reformed smoker. Smoked for 10 years (I started pretty young), but haven't had one in close to 5 years.

Cold turkey... and the best thing I ever did was quit.

Haha, if you're a real man, you don't spit at all! But yeah, it's kind of a disgusting habit to have.

Nah it's not like cope at all. I've personally never tried it but it's big in the dry denim community and in Sweden. Apparently they got crazy laws over there on tobacco control and have done numerous studies and found that it didn't have adverse health consequences but that's debatable. Anyways I think you can buy it from www.northerner.com

That would be "Champix". And it's what I used to get off the smokes. I'm on day 30-something. I guess I can start counting months.

I've tried the patch, Zyban, the gum, cold turkey. None of 'em worked. Maybe I was just ready this time.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is the "dry denim" community?

Depending on the answer I might be interested to know what the "wet denim" community is as well.
