I use to believe that the characters on sesame street were real...i guess that was probably a common thing. But I do remember the moment where I realized that they were in fact just puppets and not real. I was really disappointed and will never forget that feeling.

By default I enjoy not wearing a suit ever. Because when I am so inclined I have a couple nice getups that always make Ms. Traddy a very excited lady...

That the cast of Gilligan's Island was 12" tall and lived in my TV set and at night would come out and hangout behind our couch. I kept looking to see if Ginger was there...

Good old sleep paralysis. Some horrible nights after drinking has been spent imagining all horrible while being paralyzed. That actually made me think I was insane until my friend told me about this, so this post was
remotely on topic.

I used to believe Benny the Bear on the Buckshot show was a real bear.
I should have clued in based on the following observations:
- he could speak
- he never mauled anyone
- he was roughly the size of a human hand
- his coat closely approximated some sort of clothlike fabric
Nevertheless even after I appeared on the Buckshot show and saw Benny the Bear in person I still couldn't say for certain that he was not actually a bear.

that has never stopped being one of my favorite things to do. I don't have many chances anymore, but I always remember believing that lying on my back in the grass with my eyes closed I could feel the rotation of the Earth.
I also always used to think that when I saw a jet trail in the sky it was actually a rocket taking off in Florida and bound for space, and I could see it just because it was so high up in the air that the curve of the earth didn't matter.

I used to get this all the time and thought I was getting possessed cause I would actually see ghosts. When I'd "awake", I'd turn on the lights to double check my room. I'd force myself to stay awake for a bit and leave the lights on when I went to bed.
I still experience this occasonally

Other thread reminded me of this. When I was younger, when I heard kids say they "smoked a bowl" i truly thought they had a big cereal bowl full of tweeds that they light on fire and sat around like a campfire.

Lives In Fear Of Labelling
|
I used to have delusion of grander when I was young. I used to think that it was possible that the world revolved around me, I was scared that my life was being watched (Truman Show style) or that everyone one around me might be a robot and I was the last person on earth and they were putting on a big facade strictly for my benefit. I must have been pretty paranoid LOL.

Ha, I remember another one now. I used to think that I might be a robot, and that I was some kind of scietific experiment or something.

I used to think that everybody else was a robot. I was also some kind of scientific experiment.
I also thought my dog was a spy. More specifically, it was my stepmom's dog. He was a spy so I had to be good around him. Looking back, I was a bit paranoid as a kid. I used to sneak downstairs and watch Unsolved Mysteries as well. F'n creeped me out. I was deathly afraid of aliens and bigfoot until I was 10 or something.

I had an extremely well thought out theory about how your pooper system worked.
Actually, to be honest I had two theories, both of which seemed to explain the questions I was too embarrassed to ask.
1. Your poop was pushed out by little tiny men (Umpa Lumpas seem to fit the discription) using a series of wooden gears and belts, and hand powered pumps. There was a storage tank, and when it got full a bell would ring (think fire station alarm) and they'd all run to their stations to perform their tasks.
2. Your pooper system was run by a big spring system, similar to what you would see in a pin ball game at an arcade. Your body would pull back some kind of a leaver and launch the poop capsules through a tube and out your anus.
I struggled with these two ideas up until when I was probably 8 or 9, never really convincing myself of one over the other.
I also believed in Santa so strongly that I saw his bag of toys in our living room on Chrsitmas night when I was sneaking around. To this day I swear the bag was real.

Ha! My dad fed me the same thing too. He said they lowered it before the game and he crawled in. I always wanted to get there early to see them lower it, but we always missed it. I guess that's why I thought Beasley (sp?) sat in the jumbo-tron too.
